| Physical Description | Finn is Lorillian. He looks mostly human. The only noticeable difference is the vertical ridge along his nose, and some light differences in body language and scent for those acute enough to notice. Otherwise, he stands about 5’6’’, and is rather slender. He is a spacer, born off world and with artificial gravity, so he is a bit paler than most and his muscles are a bit denser after a few years on world. It gives him a somewhat slender look. He has ash-blond hair, and gray eyes. He has messy, short to medium length hair, either purposefully going for that look, or really not caring most of the time – it is hard to say which from day to day. He keeps scruff on his face, but rarely lets it grow to a full beard. Of course, most notable and readily seen is his absolute refusal to wear anything “professional” unless he is forced too. He often goes without a uniform, instead wearing civilian clothes. |

Personality & Traits
| General Overview | Finn is a bit of a character. He takes nothing seriously, it seems. He is always fast with a smile, and an offer for fun – whatever that form takes. He seems like a joker, from time to time, and it makes some question his suitability as an officer and a doctor. However, he cares more than most doctors. He is a perfectionist, and takes failures very personally. He puts his intelligence to good use, remembering patients and problems as best he can, and one on one there is rarely someone who cares more about a person they’ve barely met than Finn. He may be a bit of a hedonist, and he may give into some vices more than he should, but he shakes that off the second someone around him needs him, for whatever it is they need. He is outgoing, friendly, and unashamed. Sometimes, especially when paired with his eccentricities, it makes him a bit of an acquired taste for some. | |
| Strengths & Weaknesses | + Intelligent and Well Educated; Finn has a natural intelligence. He was encouraged to build on this his entire life, and he did just that. He has studied and studied, and continues to do just that when he finds the time. + Multi-lingual; Growing up a spacer, Finn developed a knack with languages. He speaks Lorillian and Federation Standard Natively. He speaks Deltan and Xindi Fluently, and is conversational in Ferengi and Rigellian. + Skilled Surgeon; Finn is a very skilled doctor and surgeon, perhaps one of the best. His demeanor hides this more often than not, but when it comes right down to it, he is a highly skilled, highly trained, and naturally talented medical professional. +/- Lorillian Biology; Lorillians are very close to Humans in most regards. However, they are born breathing methyl-oxide gases, and have to be weaned off of these over time. Once weaned, they can breathe both rather easily. As such, Lorillians can breathe more poisonous (based on the human perspective) atmospheres, and are somewhat more resistant to any and all things that affect humanoids through inhalation or scent. +/- Situational Pacifist; Unlike some physicians, Finn has no problem with the use of force for defense. A phaser on stun, or a well-placed punch can often save a lot pain later. However, his line is sometimes hard to identify. He refuses to carry a side arm when responding to emergency medical situations or on away missions, but keeps one in sickbay (if hidden). - Irreverent; He is an irreverent joker. He has no qualms with eschewing niceties or politeness, or making fun in inappropriate situations. He can’t seem to take anything seriously. This is, of course, a coping mechanism and it is unbecoming an officer sometimes. He almost refuses to act like an officer – as he is a doctor first, and a Starfleet officer second. - It’s Always Personal; Finn doesn’t disconnect. Everything is personal. Every patient is personal, every person he comes into contact with, every falter or success – it’s all personal to him. With his driven personality, this can sometimes become problematic. - Stubborn; Finn does things his way, regardless of those around them. He gets things done well, so this is often overlooked, but it can become problematic at times. |

| Ambitions | Finn has two major goals in life. He wants to save lives, and see that his daughter is able to live a good one herself. That’s it. He doesn’t care about command, or have lofty goals of starting some new medical organization. He wants to live life, enjoy it, and help others do that as well. | |
| Hobbies & Interests | Adventuring: Finn has a penchant for adventure holo-sims and novels. This might be what he does more often than most in his spare time, especially when he has someone to drag along. From old adventure stories, to fantasy stories, and old outdated science fiction, and who knows what else – he has a library of holo-simulations that he can call on. “Everything”: Finn claims that he enjoys “everything”, stating that with holo-programs, you can and should try everything and see what sticks. This is mostly a mild eccentricity, and he is almost always game for trying something new. Singing: Finn doesn’t play any instruments, but he thinks music helps to keep ones mind active. So, he sings. He sings a variety – but has a wide range and took courses to hone his skills throughout school. He does know opera-style singing, but does seem to sing more popular or folk songs more than often. Tinkering: Finn is almost always tinkering with holo-emitters and holo-programs. He especially likes redesigning EMH programs, and is one of the few officers who seems to believe they are excellent to have around. |
| Personal History | Phen Caticasse (Pronounced Fin Cah-teh-cahs) was born in 2364 aboard the LMS Vaimir Hina (Va-ee-meer Hee-nah), the second child of Velaan Nicara and Aroa Caticasse, following a few minutes behind his sister Phena. Over the next few years, they would be joined by three more siblings (Lan [2366], Evoe [2367], and Kailei [2369]), before his parents would separate as a couple. His mother would find another partner in the next years, giving birth to three more children (Seressa [2371], Lioni [2372] and Esidi [2374]). His father, likewise, would recouple and that union produced a set of twins (Tharis and Ti [2371]). As was customary with many Lorillian families, this all took place on the same ship, the Vaimir Hina – and Phen (called Finn, from here on out) grew up in a large, if sometimes confusing to outsiders, family. During his time on the LMS Vaimir Hina, he was a child. He grew up fascinated with medicine and holographics. By the time he was twelve, he was helping in sickbay, and writing holosuite programs for use on starbases they visited. He was encouraged and grew up passionate about these two things, even going so far as to install a holo-emitter in the recreation area of the Vaimir Hina. When he was fourteen, his ship and family assisted with a conflict on the edge of the Federation. For a time, the ship ferried injured back from the front to the safety of the deeper worlds. In this period, Finn got his first taste of medicine, and each patient that the ship couldn’t save weighed on him, and slowly he formed a goal – which he would learn, and find the skills to save every person he could. He was accepted at the age of fifteen into the Lorillia Merchant Marine Academy, where he put his natural and learned talents of medical care to good use. He graduated quickly with as a licensed and registered Paramedic of the Lorillia Merchant Marine. His is one of the youngest to ever pass the qualifications – while missing the mark of youngest by a little under a year. He was prodigious during this time, and applied for a number of Universities to attempt to further his medical knowledge. He wasn’t accepted by one until 2381, when he was accepted by the University of Regulus. He almost went to this University, but before deciding he was accepted into a few others. The one he eventually settled on was the University of New Xindus. Finn spent a number of years on New Xindus studying biology and xenobiology, as well as taking a number of premedical courses. He applied for a number of medical schools as soon as he was able, and by the time he graduated from New Xindus, he could have had his pick of many schools. In an odd happenstance, he was invited to train at the University of Dhei on Dhei (or Delta IV), which was normally off limits to outsiders. As a Lorillians reacted differently to the environment there, he was accepted one of the very rare exchange participants. He did exceptionally in this program, and in his first year met Evrani. The two became very attached. In 2386, Evrani graduated her own studies and the two officially became a pair. Shortly after, Evrani gave birth to a little girl, who the two named Ada, near the time Finn joined Starfleet and was accepted into the Academy on Dhei. In Lorillian tradition, she took her mother’s surname. For the next couple of years, Finn studied to become an officer, and while there studied Holographic Engineering, partially as a hobby at first, but eventually he rushed through to get yet another skill under his belt. While Evrani and Finn remain close, they ceased being a pair in 2389, when Finn’s residency began at the Thetis Medical Station. To many this looked like a short lived relationship ending for work, but even now when Finn gets a chance, he will visit Ada, most often staying with Evrani at what was once their home. In 2389, Finn transferred to the Thetis Medical Facility, where he served as a Resident Medical Officer for two years, before becoming a full-fledged medical officer on the third. Shortly after this, he was granted an honorary license, giving him his official “Captain’s Papers” for the Merchant Fleet. After this he transferred to the USS Something, where he was assigned as Assistant Chief Medical Officer. ---Family--- Ada Izira: Ada is Finn’s daughter – half Lorillian and half Deltan. She is currently five years old, and in her first year of education. She lives on Dhei with her mother, Evrani. There is no one in the galaxy that Finn loves more, and it shows. Every day, regardless of where he is, he sends her a message, or takes the time to actually sit down and communicate with her. Every shore leave he gets, he heads to Dhei to see her. Sometimes he can’t get that far, but he always tries. Evrani Izira: A romantic partner of Finn’s. Most consider them to have been as close to married as one can get, but they parted ways. The two are still incredibly close – enough so that it has made some question why they aren’t technically together. He talks to her as often as he does Ada, or almost as often. She is an artist. Phena Caticasse: Finn’s twin sister. Current Helmsman for the Vaimir Hina. The two are very close, though they don’t talk as much as they should. Velaan Nicara: Finn’s father, previously the LMS Vaimir Hina’s Executive Officer, now Captain of the LMS Cinira Rea. He hasn’t spoken to his father in a few months. Aroa Caticasse: Finn’s mother. Currently the Chief Engineer for the Vaimir Hina. He speaks to his mother every so often, but rarely sees her. Evoe Caticasse: Finn’s only younger brother. At twenty five, he is one of the youngest captain’s in the Lorillian Merchant Marine. He captains a small escort called the Vessa Tamir. Lan Caticasse: At 26, Lan hasn’t done a lot compared to some of her siblings. She is an able crewman on the Vaimir Hina, but has been considering transferring lately. Kailei Caticasse: At 23, Kailei is one of the few members of his family that no longer lives in the Fleets. She found a partner and moved back to Lorillia, where she has a small but successful restaurant. Seressa Caticasse: At 21, Seressa is Finn’s oldest half-sibling. She is currently attending the University of Lorillia, studying Geology. Tharis Fasan: At 21, Tharis is closer to Finn than most would think. As a half-sibling, the two barely knew each other as children, but when Finn left for University, the young Tharis took an interest in his pursuits. It encouraged her to enroll in Starfleet Academy. She is currently in her third year, and is planning on becoming a security officer. Ti Fasan: At 21, Ti followed Tharis to the Academy, though she hasn’t had as much contact with Finn as her twin sister has. Ti is on the Command Track, but despite a good showing early on, she has begun to struggle a bit. She is also in her third year. Lioni Caticasse: Lioni, another of Finn’s half-sisters, is currently the Weapons Officer on the Vaimir Hina. Esidi Caticasse: At 18, Esidi is proving to be one of the more talented members of the family. She just began her education into Astrophysics. Her scores were high enough to get her invited to study on Vulcan. Nieces and Nephews: Phena, Evoe, Lan, Kailei, and Lioni all have children. All of them are younger than Ada. Extended Family of Note: One maternal cousin (Ker Caticasse) is Station Operations Manager for Talinra Cargo Station, near Naussican Space. Otherwise, most are in the Merchant Fleet. |
