Personality & Traits

General Overview Valasa appears to be a Romulan separatist through and through, and uses her youthful energy to advocate for the Independent Romulan Systems Allied Forces. She conducts herself with a level of severity that has been known to make liaisons shrivel and requires a reasonably firm hand to negotiate with and has little tolerance for those who can't keep up. However, when the fate of her people isn't in the balance she's much more relaxed and approachable.

She harbors a little resentment towards the Federation for not intervening at the very founding of the IRSAF and hiding behind the Prime Directive.

Personal History Valasa was inducted into Tal Shiar when she was 18 to complete the requirement of state service. Having witnessed the internal machinations of Romulan Intelligence it is said that she was disillusioned with the Romulan Star Empire. However, she dared not speak her concerns as she feared retaliation.

The Hobus incident changed all that. She was conducting her first operation, covert intelligence gathering on Deep Space 9. She embedded in a freighter crew, disguised as a Vulcan when the incident happened. After the shock wore off, she recognized the disarray the Romulan Imperial Navy and Intelligence services would be in would weaken them, and allow those planets that wanted independence to break free. She turned herself into station security and after 6 months of interrogation was freed.

She immediately began to advocate for Federation intervention between the newly formed Independent Romulan Systems Allied Forces and what she claimed to be the Tal Shiar puppet state, the Romulan Republic. Starfleet saw the Hobus incident as an opportunity to aid the Romulan Republic and generate a more favorable relationship with the super power and denied her requests, declaring the conflict between the IRSAF and the Republic an internal one.

Undeterred, Valasa was instrumental in organising support from private companies in the Ferengi Alliance and the Federation. She helped broker trade deals for weapons and refits to give the fledgling alliance a standing force that could hold the line against the Romulan republic.

The Republic had consolidated it's forces and had began conducting operations against Federation interests once more. Starfleet had begun pushing the Federation legislature to cut it's losses with the Republic and recognise the IRSAF as independent from the Republic, which would allow them to support the nation without violating the Prime Directive.

There was vast push back from the civilian representatives, that was until the chemical attack against the most populated planet in the IRSAF sphere of influence, Cassandara. Due to Valasa's efforts in supporting the Alliance, she was appointed Ambassador to the Federation.
