A Meeting

Posted on Thu Feb 9, 2017 @ 10:14pm by 2nd Lieutenant Gage Aravan & Major James Mattis

Mission: An Orion to Die For
Location: Marine Co's Office
Timeline: MD 3 || 1600 Hours

As Mattis finished the last of his paperwork and set it aside, he tapped a button on his desk and said, "Master Sergeant Aravan, report to my office as soon as you can."

=^=On my way=^= Gage responded. A few minutes later, the Master Sergeant rang the chime on the Marine CO's door and waited to be admitted.

"You wanted to see me, Major?" Gage asked as the door slid open and he entered.

"Yes, have a seat, we need to talk", Mattis said as he leaned back in his chair.

Gage took the offered seat and gave the Major his attention.

"So I have a few things to ask you, the first of which may be personal".
Clearing his throat he continued, "You know I really do not know all that much about you, so tell me about yourself".

Gage though about the question for a moment and decided on what he wanted to reveal and what he didn't. "I entered the Marines when I was seventeen with my parents consent and graduated near the top of my class at Parris Island in twenty-three eighty-two. I've served on the USS Michelangelo, the USS Dealeri where I received medals for acts of heroism and bravery. I also served on the USS Nimitz and the USS Glamroden. I finally received a transfer to the USS Triumphant two years ago where I've served as the Master Sergeant since then."

"Very impressive, i must say, i myself trained at MCRD San Diego". Leaning forward, Mattis said, seriously, "What is your Battle Record, and what Battles and Conflicts have you been involved and participated in?"

"I'm afraid there's not enough hours in a ship's day to go over all of that," Gage said. "But it's all in my personnel file. I'd rather not relive some of the things I've done, Sir."

"Same with me, i think most Marines have done things they would rather forget." "So, Any hobbies?"

"A bit of rock climbing and base jumping, but I really like cooking with my wife at The Black Hole," Gage said with a smile. "She owns the place."

"Know any Martial Arts?"

"None other than what they taught us in boot," Gage said. "I've found that martial arts are too predictable. I prefer street fighting style."

"Interesting, I myself know Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, and Krav Maga", Mattis said, shifting his weight.

"How do you like being on the ship?" Gage asked him.

"I have to say I love it, but I still get lost around here so much much it's not even funny", Mattis replied chuckling.

Gage laughed. "Just asked the computer and it will illuminate the way on the wall strips to your right," he said. "Then you'll never get lost. I have the Marines drilling in boarding protocols right now, but did you have anything in particular in mind for them?"

"Have them do a couple simulations, timed, of retaking a ship this size." "Don't make it easy for them".

"There's not many ships this size, Major," Gage pointed out. "But I'll see what I can come up with."

"Sounds good to me, I mean if they can retake this behemoth, then there really isn't much they can not take".

Gage nodded. "That's true. Is there anything else, Sir?"

"Not at this time".

"Then if you'll excuse me, I'll get on that, Sir," Gage responded.

"Dismissed", Mattis said, turning his gaze to to a padd on his desk.
