After the briefing, Mattis made his way back to Marine Country as quick as he could. As he was walking, he tapped his combadge and said, "Mattis to Master Sergeant Aravan, please report to Marine briefing room 1".
At the call of the Marine CO, Gage assembled the Marine squad leaders and came to the briefing room. "Reporting as ordered, Sir," he said, having an idea of what was going to happen and decided to take the initiative and get the other leaders.
Walking in, Matiis said, "Alright men listen up. I am sure you are aware of the current situation, well we have new orders". Pulling up a display on the main screen that had them and an overlay of the mission on it, Mattis said, "First and foremost our rules of engagement are as follows, and this comes directly from Captain Aravan and myself, you are not to fire unless fired upon, and even then, only fire to wound, use lethal force ONLY if you are not given a choice in the matter". Clearing his throat, he continued, "Questions so far?"
"Sir, what kind of opposition are we facing?" Gage asked.
"What we are facing", Mattis said clearing his throat, "Is unknown opposition on the ground. In addition we have two targets we possibly may have to hit" Looking around the room, Mattis added, "We are deploying a force of 250 Marines in addition to Security and Tactical." "Marines, in short we are facing many unknowns, but we will adapt and overcome." Mattis paused and waited for more questions before he continued speaking.
"What about air support?" A squad leader asked him.
"We will have air support and in addition, two ships, the Galor and the Victorious will be in orbit. Next question?"
"What kind of breakdown do you want for the teams?" Gage asked.
"To be quite frank, I want rifle platoons, next?"
"How many?" Gage asked. "There's only forty total men in each."
"Six total, with the remainder of the men folded into the last platoon", Mattis said, looking around the room.
"Will do," Gage responded. "Is there anything else?"
"No, that's it, are there any further questions?"
"No, Sir," Gage said after looking around at the other Marines and back at him. "I'll get the rifle platoons organized and ready, Major, with your leave."
"Well, let's consider this meeting concluded then, dismissed."
