New Beginnings

Mission:
History
Location: Kasia's Quarters
Timeline: MD 11 || 0600 Hours
Kasia sat at her table the morning after the non-corporeal lifeform surrendered itself and things began to go back to normal, but not before a ton of damage had been done. The crew of the USS Triumphant were still picking up the pieces, and likely would be for the foreseeable future. As a matter of fact, settled on the table in front of her was a cup of coffee as well as a bowl of fresh fruit... her breakfast before she was set to start her shift.
The only problem... she wasn't hungry. There was so much racing through her mind. The two hundred plus lives that were lost, the damage to the ship, what was going to be done to the responsible party, but most of all... the fact that S'er'in'e had to spend time in sickbay.
Kasia had missed him quite a bit, but even she understood how necessary it was for him to be there. If left untreated, his injuries would have turned fatal, and she didn't want that. She'd gone and seen him as often as she'd been able to, and wished to see him this morning, but time wasn't on her side. The Russian woman had somehow managed to sleep through her alarm for the first time since ending her life as a civilian. That just went to show how exhausted she, and the rest of the crew, happened to be.
S'er'in'e had been discharged not too long ago and headed home to freshen up, remove the clean sterile smell from his fur that every visit to Sickbay seemed to somehow stain his senses and fur with. He'd been given a clean bill of health though there still lingered some dull aches and pains from the fight which only time would heal. He spent the usual time sharpening his claws again, brushing his fur after the shower and groomed himself accordingly.
He worried a little about Kasia, once again she had witnessed him fighting but this time is was animalistic, almost feral in nature as two felines fought it out and yet again she'd seen another side of him which deep down he hoped nobody would. To Caitians fighting was almost artful, graceful to a degree but when two felines fight its fast paced all in swipes, bites and strikes.
Nearly 90 minutes had passed since he'd returned and he was as ready as he could be. He left his quarters carrying once again another gift to make amends for what she saw. His torn and tattered uniform, which any uniform to a Caitian was of import.
***Door Chime***
"Come in," Kasia called while still staring at her breakfast.
When the doors opened S'er'in'e stepped through, allowing the doors to close behind him. In the one hand the remains of his uniform but seeing her seemingly sad troubled him more than what happened the day before. "Kasia." He spoke, his feline inflections strong and drawn out in the hope it would bring some measure of joy or light to her seemingly otherwise dark morning.
She heard his voice before she saw him, then turned to see his large frame standing there. Without any hesitation, Kasia jumped to her feet and rushed to him, launching herself into him. "You're okay!"
"I am." His arms wrapped around her gently but with meaning, even his tail coiled about her lower leg as he held her close to him. His head lowered until his muzzle was just above her head and draw in her scent, a reassuring sensation and most comforting.
Kasia pressed a kiss to his cheek and finally relaxed a bit. "I'm so glad you're out of sickbay."
"I would have been here sooner, however I needed to shower to remove the sterile scent from my fur and tend to my claws." He replied. "I'd like you to have this." He offered his tattered uniform. "I know some of my ways seem overly troublesome to outsiders, but as with the literature, this is also meant for you."
The Russian woman accepted his uniform, but she still didn't quite understand why. "Thank you, and don't worry about not being here sooner. I get the need to want a shower." Her own arm was bandaged since she still hadn't sought out medical treatment. There were far more pressing matters that needed her attention.
S'er'in'e released Kasia from his hold and tail and took a small step back. "How have you been?" He asked softly, he knew she worried because he himself worried though no doubt about different things.
"Busy," she replied, still holding onto his uniform. "We lost a total of two hundred and one souls during the firefight yesterday. I'm so glad you were in sickbay when that happened. You would have been a large target, and knowing you were safe inside sickbay made it easier for me to focus on what I needed to do."
S'er'in'e walked to her and held her again, lower his already towering height above her to something just a few inches taller thanks to the double joint in the legs. "I know it was not my fault, but I feel responsible for your injury." He spoke. "Seeing me as you did, I'm not proud of it."
Kasia shook her head. "You couldn't help any of what happened. It was all beyond your control. But, if you it hadn't been for you, and what you did, my injuries could have been far worse. I owe you so much." She slipped her arms around him once again and held his large frame to her.
As gentle as he could muster he held and hugged her once again. His eyes closed as he drew in her scent from the closeness of her to him. "If you did not arrive when you did, I doubt I would be here now." He replied as he held on to her. "Would you like something to eat, drink?"
"No. I don't have much of an appetite, but I can get something for you," she replied. "What would you like?"
"You, as you are, with me at this moment." Within his arms, him within hers enjoying the moment. "I have a question to ask." S'er'in'e paused briefly. "Do you have any plans for the next shore leave?"
The Russian woman shook her head. "I don't," she replied softly. "I was going to remain on the ship and help out with the repairs where I could. Why?"
"With everything that has happened, I was wondering if you would honour me by coming to the Homeworld on our next shore leave?"
"Of course," she said, offering him a smile, though on the inside she was quite nervous. His parents would be there... as would countless other Caitians.
"Thank you." S'er'in'e spoke as he returned the smile. Only thing anout his smiles were that the tips of his fangs appeared. After a moment of still holding her he let her go, being large as he was and covered in fur meant sometimes it felt like hugging a fire....it could get uncomfortably warm for anyone on the receiving end of being held by him.
"Thank you for asking me," she said with a smile. Since Kasia was free, she moved over to the table to pick up her things and bring them to the recycler.
"During my time in Sickbay..." S'er'in'e paused but for a moment as it was obvious held been thinking on this very subject. "I..was away from you. I was wondering if I might have the honour of your wrist." Kasia knew of its importance, the need for scent, the act and gesture.
"Of course," she said with a smile, offering him her wrist.
S'er'in'e stepped close and held her to him while with his other hand held hers and brought her wrist to his nose. The hold on her gentle, the breathing deep and eyes closed as he drew in the scent he needed.
