Morning Routine

Mission:
Shore Leave
Location: Marine Holodeck
Timeline: MD 13 05:00Hrs
Waking for his early morning routine S'er'in'e ate a light meal and with workout bag in paw he headed to the marine deck Holodeck. His routine was mostly jumping, running and climbing which required the need for a specific holodeck program. The early morning was because few people were about and working out was something he often liked to do in private as he found the presence of others distracting sometimes.
When the program started it had ledges to climb on, jump up to, down from and a large rolling floor to run on. S'er'in'e knew he was of heavy build and he was still moderately young so he had a little growing left to do. Still however he wanted to keep in shape because he knew that a healthy body and mind was important to Caitians considering how easy it was to suffer an injury. After a brief warm up with another holographic Caitian the pair began an easy climb, a minor strain to the claws but the routine would get harder the further he went with it.
Up and down he went, climbing, ducking, jumping and leaping from one ledge to another. There was no time measured for the work out, time meant pressure and for Caitians pressure meant mistakes which could lead to injury and as heavy as he was, some injuries could be fatal.
The rolling floor was nothing more than a large treadmill, it afforded him to speed up, slow down, weave around his fellow Caitian. It even presented things to leap over from time to time to spice the run up. It was one of the few occasions where people would see him for what he was, down on his paws like the feline he appeared to be and the floor started rolling. A gentle stride at first, nothing too sudden off the mark or the like. As the speed picked up his eyes were forward watching out for what was coming. His companion kept pace and S'er'in'e knew it was of no trouble what so ever for the Hologram, it was all on him for everything.
After a few minutes a long clear stretch fell before him and the two Caitians fell side by side ready for it. Caitians were fast, not as fast as some species of felines even those on Earth but considering the weight involved and the tight muscle structure of the Caitian they could achieve considerable speeds for brief periods of time. While the younger Caitian could go faster especially since they would be lighter in weight the more mature felines could still put on a pace when needed. This was one of those times.
S'er'in'e's best was 57.2 kph. That however was achieved nearly 15 years ago when he was in training on the Homeworld. 15 years on he peaked at 52.1kph. A respectable speed for his build and years, even if he wont reach middle age for another 20 years give or take a few.
At the end of it the holographic Caitian disappeared leaving S'er'in'e alone while he began his work down routine. Suddenly stopping would prove very painful and crippling for Caitians and the tight muscles structure the body held. It was at this point he noticed he was not alone, a few marines had joined in and to his amusement were trying to scale his course. Admittedly it was pleasing to watch the team of 4 work together to scale a ledge which for a Caitian would be simple to leap upto.
He went to his bag and grabbed a towel to wipe his mouth. Running was easy but the talent of deep breathing in time with the strides without dribbling was more an art than anything else. He could feel the dull ache of his claws from climbing, he inspected them out of the view of others and aside from the tips they were still acceptable. He pulled out a bottle of water and took a healthy drink from it, he would have poured the rest over him or maybe leapt into a pool but others were present.
He turned to see the group of 4 had scaled the first ledge, some creative use of limbs and human ladders going on but they accomplished it. S'er'in'e knew they would only get so far and a smart marine would know the limit they could go to.
S'er'in'e walked over to the group and looked up. "I will leave the program running, you can have the program lower the ledge to get down if you need to." This would prevent injuries, injuries which would be reported from Sickbay to the Captain as most ship board injuries were. From the Holodeck S'er'in'e went to his office and picked up a PADD, the latest assignments and duty rosters and also a certification test, Kasia must have been busy setting all this up.
With all that done S'er'in'e departed the scene and returned to his quarters where he would get a shower, trim his fur, tend his claws and fangs to make himself presentable.
