Date Interrupted

Posted on Sun Jun 18, 2017 @ 6:05pm by Lieutenant JG Logan Hunter & Ensign Sally Miller

Mission: Shore Leave
Location: Moonlight Lounge, Copernicus City, Luna
Timeline: MD 13, 2000 hours

Logan entered the Moonlight Lounge and looked about. It took him a moment, but he spotted Sally at the bar. He zig zagged his way from the entrance to the bar to meet her for the promised drink they'd agreed to during his physical earlier that day. He smiled as he approached. "Hey Sally. What do you think of this place?"

Sally was perched on a bar stool and beamed a smile of pleasure as Logan approached.
"It's really good isn't it Ive been here a couple of times and apparently they do mean Burgers in Buns with relish of all kinds according to Jack here."
She spoke, as was her way, in a fast unbroken sentence and introduced Jack by an open palm aimed in his direction.
What she didnt say was that she'd been fending off Jacks unwanted attention for the last ten minutes by telling him the 'love of her life' would be arriving 'any moment now' having arrived earlier than arranged. Jack had spied the pretty young woman and hadn't believed her, but now he smiled weakly at Logan and sidled away.

Logan gave Jack a parting glance then took the stool next to Sally. He gave a short chuckle as Jack moved off before turning to the bartender. "One Budweiser Classic please, something for the beautiful lady here and a consolation drink for that guy," He hitched a thumb in Jack's direction, "whatever he was having." He gave Sally a wink. "Guy deserves something after being shot down like that."

She smiled wondering what he would say if he knew what shed been telling Jack.
"White wine please," she said still looking at Logan but speaking to the bar tender.

The bartender gave a nod and moved off to fill the drink order for Sally, Logan and Jack.

Logan turned back to Sally with a smile. "Um...you want to sit here at the bar or would you prefer we get a table?"

"A table would be good." she answered promptly, sliding off her stool even as she spoke. "A little bit more intimate." she ended with a wide smile.

The bartender returned with their drink order.

Logan grabbed both drinks, handing Sally her glass of wine and gesturing with his beer hand in the general direction of the dance floor. "Let's go find us a table then." He returned her smile with a warm one of his own.

Sally led the way carefully protecting her drink as she weaved her way towards a quieter part of the room.
"This one?" she asked turning to Logan

Logan gave Sally a reassuring smile as he pulled out the chair for her. "Ladies choice."

She placed her drink upon the table, sat down and watched him take his place. "Cheers!" she said lifting her glass.

Logan tapped his bottle of Budweiser Classic to her glass and added a toast of his own. "To a fun night ahead." He took a sip and put his bottle down on a coaster. "You want to get something to eat...," he glanced at the dance floor and gestured, "...maybe dance?"

"Ummm...how about both?" Sally replied, never one to pass up a snack if it was offered. How she kept a slim figure was a mystery to many.

Logan swiveled the small terminal on the table so they both could see and brought up the food menu. He keyed in an order for a steak and baked potato with sour cream.

"That sounds good but can you add sweetcorn to mine please?" she asked.

Logan set a delivery time of 15 minutes for their food and rose from his seat, extending a hand to help Sally to her feet. "Fifteen minutes should allow us to get in a dance or three."

She readily got to her feet and followed him onto the dance floor, watching the other couples already there.

They settled into a smooth rhythm with the what was a fast tempo latin number, followed up by an almost equally fast techno style dance number, finally slow number came up.

Logan held out his arms as an invitation to continue dancing in a more intimate fashion if Sally so wished.

She did. She had been hoping the music would slow before their food arrived and gracefully moved into his arms placing her hands on his shoulders and smiling to him quite sweetly and not in her usual manner which was more open.

Logan's hands took light hold of her waist and they eased into a slow dance as the music played. About a minute into the dance his hands slid around and up to her back as he pulled her into a tentative embrace.

Sally was a soul given to romance. She spent a good deal of her free time thinking about it either for herself or her friends. She loved happy endings and hoped one day to have one for herself although progress on that front was slow.

When Logan had turned up for his physical check in sickbay two days ago though she had immediate hopes, attracted by just about everything about him. So now she was willing to be pulled into his embrace and slid her hands across the back of his shoulders so bringing herself much closer.

Logan enjoyed the slow cheek-to-cheek dance with Sally. The scent of her perfume was subtle, but intoxicating. So much so, he missed the entry of several members of Starfleet Security into the lounge. She felt warm in his arms. He pulled his head back for a moment to gaze into her eyes, looking for some sign she'd like to be kissed.

Sallys eyes had closed as they slowly swayed to the music but when he moved his head she opened them and slowly tilting her head she reached up so that her lips might meet his.

Logan face closed slowly with hers. Less than a centimeter separated their lips when a loud voice came over the lounges public address system. "ATTENTION ALL STARFLEET PERSONNEL. YOU ARE REQUIRED TO RETURN TO QUARTERS IMMEDIATELY AND AWAIT INSTRUCTIONS FOR POTENTIAL ASSIGNMENT!"

Logan pulled back, startled by the announcement and more than a little bit miffed at the interruption of their kiss. He gave a slight sigh as he noticed their meals had also arrived at the table.

Sally looked down at the floor and all sorts of choice curses flitted through her mind when she thought of StarFleet.

Logan stepped back and took Sally's hand as they walked to the table. "Can you put it in a to go box. We have to head back to base."

He reached for her hand and her fingers clasped his as they returned to the table.

"'I'm sorry about that." she said although the fault was not their own.
"Perhaps we can do this again," she suggested.

Logan nodded, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. "I'd like that." He lifted her hand and gave it a gentle kiss as waiter returned with their order in a pair of To-Go boxes.

{OH so would I!} she told herself.
"Oh so would I." she said.
