Solid Ground

Posted on Fri Aug 25, 2017 @ 8:33pm by 2nd Lieutenant Gage Aravan & Lieutenant Colonel S'er'in'e & Major Kasia S'er'in'e

Mission: Strange Matter
Location: Tolara Prime
Timeline: MD28 || 13:00hrs

***Team One***

The Victorious had deployed the teams and returned to high orbit, cloaked and waited in geosynchronous orbit, sadly however the weather was no favourable to greet everyone as it rained heavily, visibility was limited. It was a solid 9 kilometre trek to where the rebel compound was, S'er'in'e didn't want to deploy too close and risk detection, at least on foot they could control speed and stealth at the same time.

S'er'in'e was confident everyone knew what was at stake and the plan so far, they would be able to communicate more once the teams were in position and then they would be able to plan accordingly with fresh intel.

There was something almost peaceful for S'er'in'e on this world, reminding him of the scents the rain brought with it, the feel of being rained on reminded him of his youth and training prior to leaving the Homeworld.

Once they were down, Gage took his fireteam and headed towards the west for his assigned area. Him and each member of the team wore variable camouflage clothing that mimicked the terrain and foliage around them and their faces were hidden by mesh that had the same ability worked into it. They moved silently with Gage on point and a man bringing up the rear with two flanking the sides and maintained com silence.

Kasia and her team checked over their gear once they were on the surface, preparing themselves for any potential run ins with hostile forces. What made this mission so hard was getting the job done without leaving any indication they were there. While it was going to be extremely difficult, she and those with her knew how to do their jobs.

The Major held up a hand and gestured for her people to follow her toward the southeast. Once they arrived, they would quickly get set up to intercept anyone who may choose to retreat, or access any kind of vehicles.

S'er'in'e and his team arrived and immediately set up position, securing the immediate area and starting ranged observation. Most would depend on Lt Aravan's team since he had the high ground and the TR116. Soon it would be night, added cover while they watched and recorded everything until drones could be used. =^= 2 - 3 this is 1, report? =^= Making use of the covert tight beam secure communications equipment. He had to speak slowly because his feline inflections would kick in and make it hard for him to be understood.

=^=Petrova here. We are in position.=^= the Russian woman said softly, keeping her eyes peeled for any kind of movement that wasn't their own.

=^=All's quiet on overlook,=^=Gage responded over the com.

S'er'in'e was glad things were quiet so far, they had managed to get into position undetected so surprise was still a card he could play later. He told his leaders to maintain overwatch for a further 8 hours, they knew what to look for and the TR116's scope would be able to get a closer view than eyes could on a given situation from its elevated position up the cliff face.

It would be night time soon enough and then drones could be used, they were small, covert and stealthy so it would add height to the situation when it came to an attack.

=^= Major, when able, recon the river to see if any water craft or escape vehicles are present. =^= S'er'in'e wanted to know all the cards in play especially since such craft could be used as an escape avenue for Starfleet if the need called for it.

=^=Acknowledged, Colonel.=^= the Russian woman said before she gestured for three of her people to follow. She didn't want to take everyone in case their was some kind of movement. Kasia and her team stealthily made their way to the river to recon the area, her brow furrowing a bit. They weren't far from the others, but hidden was a shuttle designed for two. =^=There are no water craft, but we have visual of a private shuttle designed for two.=^=

=^= Very well, observe and report change. =^= A shuttle for two, a bizzare discovery indeed considering there were two hostages. The dawning realisation that perhaps one of the hostages held more value over the other, the daughter perhaps leaving one, expendable. According to readings it would be nightfall in just a few hours, so far everything seemed quiet, peaceful but S'er'in'e knew that would change and quickly once the show started.

S'er'in'e checked the live weather burst feed from the cloaked Victorious. Rain was coming.

Kasia continued to observe, but nothing seemed suspicious to her as of yet. It was going to be a very long night, and now there was a change in the atmosphere. Rain was coming. This was going to make an already delicate mission more sensitive. Such was life in Starfleet... even if one was a Marine.

Minutes turned to hours and hours brought the rain. It came down in a heavy unrelenting downpour, visibility was reduced by a lot but that gave an advantage. =^= All teams deploy drones, lets use this to our advantage. Switch to thermal mode and report all sightings. =^=

Gage deployed the drones from his team while his spotter team continuously swept the terrain around the area that they were waiting to infiltrate. He had some doubts about the mission, but he put them in the back of his mind. He was a Marine and had his orders.

The images began coming from from the probes revealing no thermal images on the exterior of the building, but picked up two on the inside of the building. The other probes scouted further out and only picked up local wildlife. =^=Two contacts in the building, Colonel=^= Gage reported.
