Gathering information

Mission:
Falling Star
Location: Science department, Sickbay
Timeline: MD 32 || 1440 hours
After her meeting with the Commodore, Kelani double checked on the progress of her teams with the various simulations, then entered her office, moving to her desk. She seated herself, bringing up her computer as she did so. After a moments thought, she began typing....
‘Doctor, I need to consult with you as to the parameters of our researches to help the Romulans. I can meet you in Sickbay in twenty minutes time if that is acceptable.’
Kelani read over the message, then sent it, leaning back for a moment, lost in thought.
Sarish-Illiana heard her computer ping and sent a reply, 'Kelani, i am free for that time. Luvol
P.S Next time it'll be quicker to just tap your commbadge.'
She then got back to writing her psych evals and counselling reports.
Kelani looked up as her computer chimed. She read Sarish's reply and nodded, smiling at the PS.
"Noted," she said softly as she rose, gathered her PADD and some additional data discs, leaving shortly thereafter.
Upon arriving in Sickbay, Kelani moved to the CMO's office and pressed the chime.
Sarish looked up at the door cam she put above the door and then called out "Enter, Kelani."
Kelani entered, saying, "Good day, Doctor. I have brought reports of my research so far, if you would wish to offer your input?"
"Good day to you also. Of course I'll give input."
As they settled in to begin their joint researches, Kelani told Sarish, "I apologise for the unusual way that I contacted you. It is an old habit....I had a classmate at the Academy who was deaf--she had a service creature that enabled her to hear when he was in physical contact with her, but when she was not in class she let him rest, so the most efficient way to contact her was through the computer.". She gave a shamefaced little chuckle, saying, " It appears I have not yet broken the habit."
"Don't apologise for old habits. They happen and i'd keep it close by, you never know when you'll need it," she replied.
"You make a good point," Kelani said. "I will keep that in mind." Turning to the material she had brought, she spoke again, "To the matter at hand, I have had my people running simulations as to the effects of this agent on both the inhabitants and on the planet itself, but I feel somewhat at a loss without more definite parameters. Perhaps you will see something?
"Well, we know that it causes some sort of psychosis in people, which then leads them to killing each other.....
“So... it would be a reasonable assumption that it has some sort of psychotropic or hallucinogenic properties that would tend to progress and worsen?”
"Yes, I would say so and if we can isolate the non-lethal parts, we can create an antidote," said Sarish. Although she wasn't sure what parts were non-lethal and what parts were lethal. "Do we know if the effects of the chemical attack mutates, because that determines how we approach the making of the antidote."
“I do not recall that being mentioned in the original briefing,” Kelani replied, frowning. “Given the severity of the effects, I believe it would be a valid assumption that a mutation occurs.” She sat quietly for a moment, the frown deepening, then looked up as Sarish, saying, “Perhaps if we introduce an adaptogen into the antidote? That way it could adapt to any mutations it encounters.”
"That sounds like a plan. We could run simulations with that and see what happens, and then pray it will work. One of my concerns as well that i'd be interested in covering is the chemical attack on other species, just incase one of us is exposed unexpectedly," Sarish said as she looked up from the PADD.
“Another valid point,”. Kelani replied. “That will require another simulation, but the more information we have, the better prepared we’ll be.”
"Indeed. I'd be glad to join you with the simulations from the medical prospective, " said Sarish.
“That would be most helpful,” Kelani replied, a small smile appearing. “Shall we get started?”
