Whats on the collar, that matters!

Mission: On Slippery Ground
Location: XO Ready Room
Timeline: MD 01 || 1100 Hours

Isabel tapped the button on the XO's door. She was still annoyed about earlier, but she was trying to put it behind her. She took a deep breath, while she waited for Captain Weisz to respond. Despite her bad experience in sickbay, she was still looking forward to serving with the crew of the USS Triumphant, and she was looking forward to serving on the USS Victorious, once in a while as well. She was more relaxed now, than she was an hour ago. She had some time to process what had happened. Even though she had time to process it, she was still annoyed. She knew that would fade in time. I

Maddy sat behind her desk going over reports. They seemed never-ending, but it was all part of the job. She'd been reading them for the last hour or so when the chime alerted her there was someone on the other side of the door waiting to see her. This would definitely be a welcome distraction. "Come in," she called, setting the PADD in her hand aside.

'Well here goes nothing.' Isabel said, as she refocused her attitude. She wanted to make a good impression on the first officer. She walked through the doors, and noticed the tall, slender redheaded first officer. She thought she was very pretty, part of her wondered if everyone on this ship was drop dead gorgeous? She walked in front of the desk of the first officer, and snapped to the position of attention. "Ensign Isabel Robinson, reporting for duty." she said, in a monotone voice. Trying her best to hide her insecurities.

"Robinson?" the taller redhead asked. "Our new Assistant Chief of Operations, yes? What can you tell me about yourself? A personnel file only goes so far."

"I'm from Galway, Ireland." Isabel started off with her strong Irish accent. Then she went on to say. "I am a pretty good operations officer, I am focused and driven to succeed. I love to solve problem, part of the reason I decided to become an operations officer. Each day presents a new problem, something new to fix. When I am fixing things, I feel like I am contributing to the crew, and to myself. I am worse critic. But I have been known to speak my mind from time to time. It's something I am working on." She started off saying, while trying to show a grin on her face. She was trying to hide the fact, that she made an ass out of herself, with the doctor. What an embrassment that was for her.

"Are you okay, Ensign?" Maddy found herself asking. She was an observant person thanks to years of being in Security. Body language, facial expressions, etcetera, could tell a lot about an individual. "You look a bit troubled. Is their anything I can do?"

"I appreciate the gesture, but I will be okay. I sort of...I hit on the chief medical officer, and he rejected me. Never been rejected before, but it happens." Isabel said, she was not going to mention it, but she was not going to lie to a starfleet captain either. She hoped the first officer, would be supportive, and not quoting starfleet regs about fraternization.

If anyone knew what it was like to be rejected, it was Captain Madelina Weisz. She'd been engaged to be married, and things were going great between her and her former fiance. Until the day of her wedding. Things were going the way they should until it came time for her to walk down the aisle. That's when she found out he didn't show. It felt as if someone had ripped her heart out and jumped in it that day, but time healed that wound, and brought Tom into her life.

Maddy could sympathize with Isabel, though, and her heart went out to the young woman. "Well, as rough as it feels right now, it's going to be okay. It might not seem like it now, but it will be. You'll see," she began, hoping to offer the Ensign some form of comfort. After all, she did speak from experience. Then there was her relationship with Sean, though, they still spoke from time to time.

"I appreciate the kind words, I promise my emotional state will not get in the ways of duty. I am happy to start, as soon as you need me." Isabel said, trying to gather herself up. Work is exactly what she needed at this moment.

"Once we've finished here, I'll let you get settled in and go meet the rest of those in your department should you wish to," the XO told her as she leaned back in her chair. Isabel's reassurance that she wouldn't let what happened affect her was good, but Maddy would be keeping an eye there just in case. "Now, are you familiar with an Odyssey class starship?"

"As much as I can be from schematic and specs. My certifications are for Starfleet cruisers, I am looking forward to the opportunity to help keep an Odyssey class together, and in one piece." Isabel said, as she took a small look around the office. It was a nice reasonable sized office. But her looking around was to symbolize the ship. She was looking at the ship as a whole.

"I trust that you'll help keep her in good shape," Maddy stated. "Do you have any questions for me?"

"Not at this time Captain, I really do appreciate the gesture, and I will make you proud. My Starfleet record should be a testament to that. I am very hard working, and now how to get he job done." She said, more telling herself, than actually telling the first officer.

The Captain nodded her head. "Well, I'll tell you as I tell everyone. My door is always open. If any questions or concerns come up, you can come to me," she said. "For now, I'll let you get settled in and get to know your department and the rest of the ship. You're dismissed, Ensign."

"Aye Captain." Isabel said, as she snapped to the position of attention, and did an about direct face, and walked out of the room. Thinking to herself, that meeting was pleasant. The academy made first officers, seem to be like monsters. Not humans. But the Captain, was very approachable. Isabel started to head to her quarters to get things situated.
