From Bad to Worse

Mission: On Slippery Ground
Location: Open Space and Abandoned Maquis Base
Timeline: MD01 || 1500 hours

Logan felt his Valkyrie toss and buck as the pressure wave from the ignited gases washed over his fighter. Red lights appeared on his master control panel as other indicator lights went completely dark. "Computer, damage assessment." A litany of system failures rattled off.

Logan gave a sigh as he cut the computer off. He had partial propulsion and navigation control, but with a plasma storm now raging between him and his mother ship, he was going to have to find some place else to put down. He brought up his position on the HUD and queried the computer for any known places for him to put down on.

The computer only listed one viable option. His current heading would bring him to an asteroid that had been used by the Maquis before the Dominion War, with a lot of luck, he would be able to land and affect repairs.

Logan spent the next twenty minutes doing his best to keep the fighter on course while running a series of diagnostic checks on various systems. He finally came up on the asteroid and made a pass over the base surface structures. He checked his database again for any mention of captured command codes that would open the doors to what appeared to be an ingress to the asteroid interior.

Logan's luck held out as the computer displayed such a code. He transmitted the code and watched as the bay doors opened. He brought his Valkyrie around on final approach when the unexpected happened. A gun battery on the surface opened fire. The shoot was a near miss, but it caused him to delay his deceleration long enough that instead of a controlled landing. He skidded into the bay, only coming to a stop after smashing into a parked ground vehicle used for towing shuttles around the bay.
