Mission:
Refits and Reviews
Location: Quarters of Logan Hunter
Timeline: MD 7 || 1700 hours
Logan was happy to finally arrive back at his quarters from what had been a very long and eventful day. He was looking forward to a little decompression time. He paused before his door and smiled as he became aware there was already someone inside. He keyed the code to the door in and entered to find the one person he most wanted to see.
Kelani was beyond elated. Logan was back and safe, plus he had brought back some former Maquis children who had been marooned on the asteroid he had crash landed on. Now all she wanted was to be with him...
Her telepahtic abilities told her that he was close, so she finished her preparations and moved to meet him, the filmy gown she had changed into after arriving at his quarters swirling about her.
She waited for Logan, nervous and anxious at the same time.
Logan wrapped his arms around Kelani as he stepped through the door. He planted a soft, lingering kiss on her that lasted a full ten count before breaking the kiss to just look at her face. He took a deep breath and let it out in a long sigh. "How is it you get more and more beautiful each time I see you?"
“I could also ask you how you become more and more handsome with each time I see you,”. Kelani replied, her eyes shining as she twined her fingers in Logan’s hair and kissed him again, a long and lingering kiss.
After a few timeless moments, Kelani pulled back and, taking Logan by the hand, led him into his living area where she lowered herself onto the small sofa and tugged him down beside her, hugging him tightly.
“That was the most frightening experience I have ever had—your being missing....the not knowing.....the not being sure....”
She pressed close to him, holding him tightly.
Logan embraced Kelani in a hug just as tight. He had experienced the same fears she had, but he never doubted in his ability to return to her. She was his everything now. There was no force in this, or any other, universe that would prevent him from coming home to her. "I made you a promise...think of what happened today as proof I will always keep that promise."
Kelani relaxed her tight hold on Logan somewhat as Logan’s words sank in. She drew a long shaky breath, saying, “It does help my Logan, but when you told me you loved me with such wistfulness in your tone, I feared never to see you again. The fact that you are here, in my arms, is the stuff of miracles.” She ducked her head continuing very softly, “I do not want to be parted from you....”
Logan used a finger to gently lift Kelani's head. Actions, they say, spoke louder than words. Fortunately their bond allowed him to do both. He gave her a soft, lingering kiss as his mind spoke to her through their telepathic bond. 'Nor I from you.'
Much of the tension left Kelani as she returned Logan's kiss, then caressed his cheek. She smiled up at him, the strain of the last few days easing but still apparent.
"We must make the most of these precious times, my Imzadi," she told him softly, snuggling close as she kissed him again, saying through their bond, 'I love you my Imzadi....'
Logan kissed Kelani again before finally pulling away. He looked deep into her eyes. "I...I don't want to wait. We get to the starbase for repairs, I want to go and find a chaplain and get married right away."
“I do not want to wait either, my Imzadi” Kelani replied, tracing his lips with her fingertips. “Let’s do so, please!”
She kissed him again, deeply.
Logan held Kelani close throughout the kiss. It was all to easy to get lost in the moment with her that he would forget about everything else. His body however knew when other matters needed to be addressed and let him and her know at this time by rumbling loudly. "Sorry about that. I must be hungrier than I thought."
Kelani clung to Logan as they kissed, basking in the feel of him close to her again. She would have stayed that way for much longer, but the rumble of Logan’s stomach and his embarrassed apology caused her to giggle and pull back slightly, saying, “Then it is a good thing that I prepared all your favorites. Come...” she said, rising and pulling Logan with her...
Logan followed Kelani to a table with several covered platters. The smell of food was incredible. He couldn't think of anything more enjoyable then dinner with the woman he loved. "This is...fantastic."
“I am glad you like it, my Imzadi,” Kelani said as she seated herself across from Logan. “After all that has happened, I thought that a special dinner and quiet evening together would help both of us.”
She reached across the table and gave Logan’s hand a squeeze.
Logan uncovered several of the platters and started scooping out food for both their plates. He wanted nothing more than to be able to enjoy the rest of the evening with the woman he loved. He raised his glass and looked at Kelani. "To a quiet night with the most beautiful woman in the Galaxy."
Kelani raised her glass at Logan’s toast, adding before she took a sip, “And to many more quiet dinners with the most handsome man in the galaxy,” before raising the glass to her lips and taking sip.
As they began to eat, Kelani’s eyes seldom left Logan’s face, as if drinking in his presence, his appearance, to keep with her always.
After a few moments, she spoke, her soft voice excited, but restrained, “The Commodore called me to his Ready Room today, my Imzadi. He did my performance review, then gave me a huge surprise—he promoted me to Lieutenant Commander!”
She hesitated, then raised her glass, saying, “To our love—May it always be strong in the face of all danger.”
Logan's smile grew wider at the good news. "It's a well deserved promotion...ma'am." He gave her a wink as he took a sip of his wine. "So does this mean I need to salute you when I come through the door?"
Kelani smiled widely as well, saying, “Only on duty, my love and only if the situation requires it.” She looked across the table at him, her eyes shining as she said, “I am hopeful for something as good for you, but let’s put that aside for now. We are together—let’s make the most of it.”
Logan nodded his head in agreement. He glanced at the door to his quarters for a moment before returning his gaze to his lovely fiance. "Rule number one after we are married and sharing quarters. Work and rank left on the far side of the door." He took a sip of his wine. "Speaking of marriage. We should probably start discussing the wedding plans."
“I agree to both,” Kelani replied with a smile. She took a deep breath and continued, “ About the wedding—I would really like for the Commodore to marry us. We have all been through so much together, it just seems right somehow....”
"It that is what you want, then of course." Kelani had been aboard the Triumphant a lot longer than he had. Truth be told, outside of her, Logan had no real significant interaction with any of the senior staff, but his promotion to Lieutenant junior grade and the CAG position had only come down just as their last mission had been kicking off.
Kelani said tentatively, “I know we were going to find a chaplain on the station, but the Commodore was so understanding and patient with me while you were missing—it just seems right....”
Logan gave Kelani a reassuring smile. He wanted nothing more than she be happy and their life together as husband and wife to start as soon as possible. "So, any ideas as to who you're going to ask to be your Maid of Honor?"
Kelani smiled, relieved, at Logan’s agreement to having the Commodore perform their wedding ceremony. Her face went blank, however, at his question about a maid of honor. “I had not even considered that, “ she admitted ruefully. She thought for a moment, then spoke slowly, “Perhaps Captain Weiss? Or perhaps the Commodore’s wife as Matron of Honor?”
Logan let out a light chuckle as he set his wine glass back on the table. "Well you have two candidates for the wedding party versus my none." He gave the matter a moments thought. "I really haven't interacted much with him, but if there were anyone on the crew I might have something in common with...it would me Master Chief Barnes."
“He would be an excellent choice, my Imzadi,”. Kelani told him. “If he agrees, and Captain Weiss agrees, we will be ready.” She smiled st him, reaching across the table to take his hand, saying, “I already have my dress designed and programmed in the replicator. It seems that all that remains is asking the Commodore, Captain Weiss, and Chief Barnes.”
"Not quite love." Logan smiled as he pulled a PADD from his pocket. He keyed in a command and brought up a picture he'd downloaded from their very first date on the holodeck adventure. He slid the PADD across the table. "How do you feel about getting married in Paris? Specifically Paris circa 1642.
Kelani stared at the image for a moment in astonishment. She looked up at Logan, her face glowing as she told him, “I think that is a marvelous idea!” She asked, "I presume we’d all be in clothing of the period?”
She was already planning the necessary alterations to her wedding dress.
Logan nodded with a smile on his face. "We still also have the guest list to work on too." He rose from the table as started clearing plates as they finished dinner.
“We do, indeed,” Kelani agreed as she helped him clear the table. “We must consider carefully—I don’t want anyone to feel slighted or that they were not important enough to us to be included.”
As she and Logan moved to the sofa in his living area she asked,”What are your thoughts?”
Logan sat on the sofa, pulling Kelani down into his lap. His arms wrapped about her. "I'm going to invite a few of the pilots and WSO's I have flow with, but my list is going to be short probably. I just haven't really made a whole lot of friends aboard ship since being assigned to the Triumphant
“Nor have I, my Imzadi—until you,” she said with a caress to his cheek. “I was immersed in my work...”. She thought for a moment, then said, “I will probably invite some of the people I have worked closely with as well as the Commodore’s wife. Should one of us possibly invite the Commodore’s brother and sister-in-law?”
"Of course." Logan gave Kelani a gentle kiss as he pulled her even closer. "We can hammer out the final details over the next few day. Right now I want to spend some quality time with the loveliest woman in the known universe."
“Indeed we can,” Kelani replied with a smile as she snuggled close to Logan. I want to spend as much quality time as possible with the most handsome man in the universe”
