Shocking Information

Mission:
Refits and Reviews
Location: Marine Country
Timeline: MD 6 || 1000 Hours
Kasia made her way to the Colonel's office, and while she was in uniform, her reason for this visit was both professional and personal, and they each made her quite nervous for their own reasons. The professional matter was something she felt needed to be done after what she witnessed in the Captain's Ready Room aboard the Apollo. How it would be received was another matter entirely, but the Major needed some time to heal from such an ordeal.
Sure, she'd seen things during the span of her career, but watching a member of her team cease to exist was a first. And, if she was going to be any good to her fellow Marines in the future, Kasia needed to do what was best for her right now, and hopefully, they would all understand. After all, it wasn't a secret she was struggling. Everyone had seen her breakdowns, but no one more so than the man on the other side of the door.
Taking a deep breath, the Russian woman extended a finger to press the sensor on the panel that would activate the chime inside the Marine COs office. Once in there, after being granted entry, there would be no turning back, but she found she didn't want to. This was the right thing to do.
S'er'in'e was looking over some training recommendations and a few commendation nominations following the last mission. He was sipping Caitian Tea which held a slightly stronger aroma than usual teas, the cup also was larger to suit his size and hands. The reports and after action reports were many and varied, and letters to the families of those lost took up a considerable amount of time.
"Come." He looked up to see who it was, wondering if it was his assistant, or another officer.
"Colonel," she greeted as she stepped through the door with her hands clasped behind her back. "If you aren't busy, I'd like to speak with you regarding my current position."
S'er'in'e seeing who it was stood, waited for the doors to close then as customary bowed. "Of course." He spoke once righting himself. "Please." His hand out to one of the chairs in front of him. "Can I get you something, Coffee, Tea?"
Kasia shook her head, but she did take the offered seat. There was no sense in beating around the proverbial bush. "No, thank you. I'm here to request an extended leave of absence. After what happened, I feel it's not only in my best interest, but also in the best interest of those men and women who serve with us. I've been thinking about it, and it's the right thing to do at the moment," she began. "Being in the field, and having flashbacks, or what have you, could prove deadly to myself or someone else."
S'er'in'e knew of the issues since that time he found her in the shower, and the long time he spent holding her at the foot of the bed in his lap. "Of course." He knew better than to try and talk her out of it, she was a smart woman, considerate and planned. She wouldn't do this unless she had already thought the matter through. "Do you have a suggestion as to who should fill in for you in the interim?" He asked.
"Aravan," she said without hesitation. "He's shown a lot of improvement over the years, and would be fitting for the job, should he wish to fill in for me. I will be back, though, I'm unsure when that will be exactly, and I'd like for said leave of absence to begin immediately."
"As you wish." S'er'in'e spoke though it was hard for him to not slip into the caring and loving Mate from the Colonel he needed to be right now. He made a note to speak to Aravan also. He made the changes to the roster, a visual shift could be seen as Kasia's name changed colour on the roster listing about his head on the wall behind him to reflect her leave request.
With her request approved, Kasia removed her the upper part of her uniform to reveal the tank top she wore beneath. She wasn't entirely out of uniform, but close enough. "Now, that that is out of the way, I wish to have a baby."
For all of his natural abilities acute hearing was one of them yet in this instance it seemed to fail him. The bewildered look on his face, the paused expression, the still body as it could be seen that his brain was trying to process what he thought he heard. "I'm sorry?" Confusion was obvious, much the moment she proposed.
Kasia smiled. "A baby. I want you and me to have a baby."
He hung there for a few seconds more as his brain clicked into action. She wanted a baby, offspring, with him. The moment it did click however his expression changed and a smile grew. He wasn't going to ask if she was sure, Kasia didn't do things half planned but he did ask. "What about your career?" Not that he was against the idea of becoming a father but it was still hard for him to stop being the traditional Caitian that put females first and in this case, Kasia's career.
"My career is currently on hold at the moment, so there's no time like the present, right?" she asked. "I'd have to go to Medical to start the process, if... you're on board."
"I am honoured, and will be honoured to provide you with offspring." Her remark about medical reminded him of cases where Caitian and non Caitian pairs struggled to produce offspring, or more importantly struggled to make the female pregnant because of the mixed species. "Would you like me to attend medical with you?"
"Yes, and we can go when you're ready to. I don't want to rush you into anything," Kasia said, though, if he gave her the go ahead, she'd be out the door and on her way to sickbay in a heartbeat.
"If you would permit 10 minutes, we can go together?" Given that currently there was little to do that strictly needed his attention. He was still somewhat taken aback by her request but was indeed honoured for it feeling a warmth flow through him at the idea of becoming a parent.
"That gives me time to go home and change. As much as I adore this uniform, it's been quite hard for me to put on lately. Would you like to meet me there, then we can go to medical together?" she asked in return.
"Of course." S'er'in'e answered still on his somewhat emotional high at the idea of him becoming a father.
