Chaos in Engineering

Location: Engineering
Timeline: MD 1 || 1130 Hours

In Engineering, every console was flashing red and warning klaxons sounded as Engineers ran hither and back between console after console. Zander Devereaux, the head Damage Control Specialist stood at the pool table barking out orders since he had no idea where the Assistant Chief was.

"Barrows, get to junction forty-two and reroute the ODN to Sector Four! We have power bleeds that can cause a breech in core two! Get a team on it!" He looked around frantically and assigned several others to help. "You, you and Yu! Now!"

"On it!" Lexi didn't need to be told twice. She grabbed a spare tool kit and called her team to her even as she bolted out the door.

Kyra stumbled in bloody and bleeding, "What in the name of Kahless blew out? Zander get a team to Jefferies tube 45. The whole thing blew out with me in close proximity!", Kyra yelled walking up to the pool table. "Where is the Chief?", she asked quickly. Surveying the pool table and the display board, "Ok Zander give it to me straight, how bad?"

"Bridge!" Zander barked over the chaos of Engineering. "I'm directing damage teams, Look. We have ODN reroutes in progress, but warp core two is going to breech if we can't get this done yesterday!"

"Blast, I assume the Chief is on the bridge so that is something. What are we doing to keep the core breach on number two from happening? I don't want to dump it if we can help it. Can we shut it down or have the injectors frozen?" Kyra asked Zander.

What gave you the idea that he's on the bridge? Zander asked himself mentally. Oh. I told you he was. "I have Barrows taking a team to Junction Forty-two and reroute the ODN to Sector Four. We need to get that under control."

Lexi wasted no time in getting to junction 42. She had knocked a few people out of the way, shouted at others to make way and flat out ignored others. All the niceness in the world wouldn't mean shit if the ship went kaboom, after all. When she reached it, she growled and hit her comm badge. =/\= Barrows to Devereaux. My team is in place. Starting the repairs now. =/\= She didn't wait for a response, just gave the information and then climbed into the access crawlspace to the junction.

=^=Acknowledged=^= came Zander's bellowing response.

Inside the crawlspace, there were lots of other things sparking and screeching and making all manner of other noises they shouldn't. She ignored them for now, focusing on the reroute.

Kyra almost knocked Zander out. " Zander you stay HERE I'm heading for the second warp core. Maybe I can keep it from going critical myself" Kyra said.

Pointing to three other engineers, "You, you and you come with me", she said with the three engineers on her heels. Grabbing her tools, tricorder, and a medkit, they headed for the secondary core.

Kyra moved awfully fast for being hurt but she had a purpose. All the bleeding and open wounds did not stop her as she finally arrived. Stopping short, the three behind her tumbled into her almost knocking her to the ground.

The scene was chaotic, injured all over the place consoles crackling and sparking, vapor from the magnetic constrictors blowing all over. Optical cable hanging from blowouts and as she suspected the constrictors frozen.

Looking at her three engineers, " You, Ensign Baker manually shut down the constrictors. Take Jacen and get it done", Kyla said and off they hurried to do their job. Turning to Ensign. Tabor, "Your with me. We have to get the injectors on line or we lose the core", she said and they headed for the injector assembly.

Slowly both Kyra and Ensign Tabor worked the injectors and finally got them to open. Baker and Jacen succeeded in getting the magnetic constrictors shut down stopping the vapor and began the shutdown of the second warp core. Tapping her combadge, "Kyra to Zander, second warp core shut down. Alert the boss on the bridge. Also the second core area is a mess and needs repair teams yesterday", she said, wiping the blood from her head.

=^=Got it, Chief=^=" he shouted over the noise in the Engineering room. At the pool table, Zander monitored the progress of the second warp core and then switched back to Barrows. =^=Compensate for the second core going down and shunt any extra power to the primary!=^=

Lexi didn't really have time to stop and mess with comms, but she tapped her comm badge. =/\= Got it. ODN rerouted. Working on power redistribution now.=/\= she told him even as she and her team moved to start rerouting power from one section of the EPS grid to another, giving the Primary Core more power by shunting any extra that would have been routed to the second core to the Primary. =/\=Power rerouting now. How does it look on your end, Devereaux?=/\=

The ship shook heavily and a console exploded near Zander, but didn't get him in the explosion. =^=Good, but more shit just hit the fan!=^= he called out. =^=Damage teams to....=^= he began calling off locations and priorities, then grabbed a tool kit and headed to one himself.

"You have Engineering, Lieutenant," the stocky Engineer said as he headed for the nearest exit. "Make us proud!"

Slapping her dirty threesome on the backs, "Good job! Saved the core but we got more work to do. Let's get it done," she said as she headed back to Main engineering.

Lexi acknowledged the new set of orders Zander gave her team, setting them in motion to carry them out. She was in her element, stuffed into some crawlspace with tools in hand, fixing something.
