Mental Hiccups

Mission:
The Nanjing
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: MD 1 || 1500 Hours
As Kyra and Kelani materialized on seperate biobeds in Sickbay, an orderly and several nurses and a doctor approached and began to run scans as another copy of the EMH appeared.
"Two telepaths, one Betazoid/Klingon and one Betazoid/Cairn," it said. "Both suffered some type of neural overload. Begin with ten cc's each of tripinfan and set up neural monitoring."
The team of medical personnel jumped to the EMH's orders and soon the two women were stabilized, but the real struggle had just began.
"As we don't know what actually happened, we'll have to get their word on it, then go backwards from there."
Kelani’s eyes slowly opened and she looked around in surprise. She raised her hand to her pounding head, but said nothing at first. Finally she whispered, “Is Chief Barnes all right?”
"Unknown," Came the response from the EMH. "What is your current mental status?"
“It is difficult to describe,” Kelani said slowly. “Vague, confused, perhaps. So many images and thoughts came into my mind so suddenly that it is difficult to process them all, to think clearly.” She looked up at the EMH, worry in her manner as she continued, “If I was affected so deeply, being used to mental contact with others, I fear for Chief Barnes.”
The EMH went to a tray and picked up a hypospray, then loaded it with an ampule before returning. "I'm going to give you a neural suppressant for now, Commander," it said as it pressed the hypo to her neck. "You'll find that your telepathy will be very muted until it wears off, but it'll return in a day or so fully. It'll help with what happened."
“Thank you,” Kelani said, her eyes closing in relief. “Perhaps that will give me time to deal with everything that flooded my mind”
Klaxon's were going off, engineering was filled with thick acidic choking smoke, Kyra crawled towards the chiefs office looking for him. Feeling a cold hand, she pulled on it and the blood soaked body of the chief slid infront of her. She , "Chief!", opening her eyes to fast, the lights of sickbay blinded her, "Where's...is he dead, where is he?", Kyra cried through the pain ridden headache she had. Was it real or was it a dream?
At Kyra’s cry, Kelani struggled to rise, to go to her, but her still-pounding head prevented it. She called to her instead , saying, “Lieutenant, try to calm yourself! It was all the images thrust upon us—we are seeing things that happened to the Borg cube, not to us!”
"Stay down, Commander," the EMH ordered before she reloaded the hypospray and moved to press it against Kyra's neck. "You, too. Master Chief Petty Officer Barnes is fine. I've just given you a neural inhibitor to repress your empathic nature."
Kelani sank back down on the bed with a half-whispered, half-sighed, @Yes, Doctor.” A moment later her eyes drifted closed as she murmurs, “Thank you.”
As the inhibitor took effect, Kyra's mind quieted and all she felt was her own pain from hurting head. "Thankyou doctor", as she closed her eyes and tried to remember something pleasant.
As the officers drifted off, the EMH made a note in their medical files, then deactivated.
