Let's Get Physical

Mission:
The Nanjing
Location: SickBay
The doors parted with their signature 'swoosh' noise and Rayne the tall, albino Xenxian entered through them. He took a moment to look scan the room with his violet coloured eyes before moving over and onto an empty Biobed.
Sitting on the bed he couldn't help but feel a little anxious, it may have been years since he was alone on Xenex but he still wasn't use to this level of care or be at ease with how invasive some of the medical procedures can be.
"Hello, welcome to sickbay, what can I do for you today?" Aereen said coming over to biobed.
The Xenxian tensed a bit more and looked in her direction, "Hello, my name is Ensign Rh'rh," he stopped short remembering his new moniker, "I'm acting Ensign Rayne." he corrected himself.
"I was ordered to report here for my first medical assessment aboard." he shifted uneasily and crossed his legs as he spoke.
"Let me guess, Rayne is what you go by instead of having people butcher your actual name everytime?" She asked with a small smile, "Well, welcome. You've already had a seat so if I can get you to lay down I'll start the scans."
Reluctantly the new comer obeyed and lay down, in all the stress of thinking about what tests were to be performed on him, he had neglected to notice the CMO wasn't exactly Human, the spots reminded him of a word but he couldn't remember it.
To throw more complication onto him, he hadn't noticed how strikingly attractive she was, "Y-You're, You're spots," was all he could muster quietly as he lay there, his mind racing with all the sensations he was dealing with at the time.
Calista smiled, "Yes, I'm Trill, humanoid species from the Alpha Quadrant. While we look very similar to humans on the outside we have some, interesting, biology on the inside."
Rayne eased a little bit after turning his attention to the ceiling, "Yes," he managed to find his voice again, "You are forever, pregnant. With a worm?" he felt a bit accomplished, his grades in xenobiology weren't the greatest.
Calista laughed, "Not quite, and for many Trill, myself included, we are not what my people call 'joined' which is to say not paired with the symbiotic lifeform also native to my homeworld. Joined Trill aren't considered pregnant with the symbiote because it's not part of our reproductive cycle. But yes, the symbiote is placed in our abdominal cavity near the womb in females."
The Xenexian's eyebrow raised and his head tilted like a confused puppy with violet eyes, "So, you are not..." he took a moment to process the word, "Joined, Why?"
"While it is considered a great honour amongst the majority of my people, I was always a little unsettled by the whole process, many of my people consider it as natural as the symbiosis that occurs between mitochondria and eukaryotic cells on Earth, however, I never was fond of the idea of another lifeform impacting my personality, my interests, my direction in life. I'm quite happy without a symbiote." She replied, she completed the scans and smiled. "Everything looks good, I just need to collect a blood sample. Has there been anything bothering you lately medically?"
Rayne couldn't help but nod in agreement, "The idea of that, bothers me as well and No, not at present." he said as he presented his arm for the upcoming test.
She grinned, "Many other species find the idea, uncomfortable. However, the majority of my species see it as a natural part of our shared evolution." She collected a blood sample quickly and tagged it before putting in a tray to go to the lab. "Alright, well everything looks good. Thank you for coming in Ensign."
Moving his legs over the side, Rayne sat up right, "I thank you, Doctor." he kept looking away, this time staring at the floor as he hopped off the Bio Bed and exited.
