A Fly Boy

Mission:
The Nanjing
Location: Flight
Timeline: MD 2 || 2200 Hours
After his conversion and subsequent upgrades, some of which he was still working on getting, Zander headed to Flight Control. Whoever was in charge of Flight would effectively control the direction of the ship as well as full control of all the shuttles, runabouts and the Victorious on the massive ship. All vessels the Nanjing could use to their benefit.
He approached Flight and rang the chime, then waited for whoever was unlucky enough to be the one to face him.
“Enter!” Came the fall from inside. Jas was buried in the latest round of reports late that evening. The nice thing about not having any major change in ship position was that it gave him and his team a chance to catch up on everything else that occasionally got pushed to the side. His latest round of reporting involved cross checking and verifying everyone’s latest Pilot Certifications for the shuttle craft.
Jas heard the door open in response to him, “If you’re head about scheduling a re-certification you’ll have to wait until morning. Or ideally send me a message instead and I’ll get to it when I can.”
"Nah, not that," Zander said as he came into the office and started to scan it with his new eyes. He saw the power flowing behind the panels and holographic consoles and the power flow through the conduits behind the walls. "I need ya to suspend operations to Flight for about four hours," he said. "Engineering needs to do a diagnostic of all systems."
"Did the Chief or the Assistant Chief send out a message about it?" Jas asked, his eyebrow slightly raised. However, he still did not look up from his work recognizing at least that it wasn't the Chief speaking to him. "Surely it can wait until tomorrow morning, or at least until tomorrow night?"
"Nah, that's why I'm here," the stocky Engineer said as he approached Jas and reached out with one hand. Two assimilation tubules came out of his index and middle finger and he stabbed them into the Chief of Flight's neck. "Just relax..."
Well versed by now, the Nanjing entered the man's cerebral cortex and began to rewire his pathways and make upgrades as well as taking control of his motor reflexes so he wouldn't hurt himself in the initial moments of assimilation.
The sensation was cold and piercing as Jas' body was invaded by the nanites. Without an opportunity to fight back any protest Jas could have given quickly died as they found their target: his cerebral cortex. Jas' body relaxed momentarily at his terminal before suddenly stiffening back up as the conversion process began.
"Now lock out the flight controls and lock down the shuttle and fighter bays," Zander ordered him. "Then report to Engineering and see Ensign Rivers. Oh, and call in Tholav," he added as an afterthought.
Jas nodded as he remotely accessed the ship's flight controls. Entering his own command codes, he remotely locked them into their current position with his access codes and a series of additional ones. Turning to the Shuttle and Fighter Bay,s he once again accessed and remotely locked them down, including the individual shuttles. Thankfully with it being gamma shift there would be no need for anyone else to be utilizing them.
"Niecta to Tholav, can I see you in my office?" Jas asked tapping the comm button his terminal.
Gaalen Tholav had been on duty when - much to his surprise - he was summoned away from his station on the bridge down to Flight Control. The Andorian wasn't expecting such a call but nevertheless he made his way down - arriving five minutes after he'd been called.
"Here as requested Lieutenant. What is it I can help you with?" Gaalen said.
"Thanks for coming." Jas replied, pulling up the Andorian's most recent report on his terminal and turning it to face him. "Lieutenant Devereaux and I were looking over your most recent report, can you explain a bit more about the trouble you were having with Shuttlecraft Three?"
The Andorian was confused as to why he'd been called down to flight control at this time of night to discuss a fault report he'd made the previous day. He'd reported the fault to engineering and assumed that was the end of it.
Gaalen replied. "One of the landing thrusters wasn't operating properly so I asked someone from engineering to take a look at it. Was there something else that I'd missed?"
"Yeah, there was," Zander said as he approached the Andorian and offered a hand as if he had something in it.
Gaalen raised an eyebrow curiously - he'd double checked the diagnostic - and ran another - before sending the report off to engineering and he was certain there was nothing else which needed the attention of an engineer.
"I'm afraid that's news to me Lieutenant. I carried out two diagnostics - which I double checked - and apart from the fault with the landing thruster nothing else came up on either. What was it you found that the diagnostic missed?" Gaalen responded.
Since Gaalen didn't take the offered hand, Zander slapped it to the side of the Andorians neck and injected the Nanjing probes directly. "Don't fight it," he said. "That only makes it worse."
The Andorian had no idea what the device which had just been smacked against his neck was - all he knew was whatever it was doing wasn't pleasant and it was extremely uncomfortable to say the very least. Gaalen reached around to try pull the device off - but it was no use. It wouldn't budge.
Gaalen then felt faint and lost his balance - crashing to the floor. Several moments later Gaalen came to and after regaining his composure he slowly and carefully stood up - feeling very different indeed.
"Alright you two," Zander said as the Nanjing began their version of Upgrading the two. "Time to get to the Upgrade beds and quicken this process. You don't have to like it, you just have to do it. Now let's go," he ordered them as he headed for the door.
After dusting himself down Gaalen followed close behind Zander - that feeling of unease rapidly dissipating as his cerebral cortex had been reprogrammed to do the Nanjing's bidding. Something was telling Gaalen that what he was about to embark on was a critical task and the Andorian was determined that nothing would stop him - or the others - from completing it.
Following the other two, Jas locked up the office to prevent any additional access to his office. With the nanobots beginning their work of upgrading Jas as their vessel.
