The Boarding

Mission:
An Orion to Die For
Location: Raimus' Ship
Timeline: MD 3 || 1330 Hours
The away team beamed into what seemed to be an unused room on the Galor class ship, but the commotion coming from the halls indicated that it wouldn't be abandoned long. Voices rang out giving orders and the heavy stomp of booted feet came and went.
As soon as Mattis and the rest of the personnel with him beamed in, he knelt down and said to Mallory in a low, hushed voice, "I say you take your men and secure Main Engineering, and me and my Marines will storm the Bridge, thoughts?"
Douglas glanced at a PADD he had that contained a map of the Galor class ship. A tiny marker indicated their position on that map. According to this, either of those locations was fairly equidistant from their current location. Therefore, it did not really matter who took what. Putting the PADD back in his uniform jacket, he nodded. "Agreed." he said quietly. "It will force them to split their resources to stop us. But perhaps we should use the Jeffries Tubes to get to those locations -- keep the element of surprise as long as we can."
Yes, the enemy might have observed the transport, but that only meant that they knew where the team beamed into. Where the team went after that would be harder to determine, and that could give them a temporary advantage. "Whatever we do, though, we'd better do it quickly." he advised.
Normally, he would have preferred to have hashed this out before beaming in; he was not a big fan of going in without a plan. But there had been no time, and there was precious little of it now, so he did what he must and motioned his men toward the Jeffries Tube entrance in the room. They began moving silently to comply with his equally silent directive.
Meanwhile, he took a tricorder from his belt and scanned the area. Internally, he chastised himself for not thinking of this sooner, not doing it the second they materialized. They needed to know where the enemy was before they did anything either way.
When the Security Chief checked his tricorder, he saw a concentration of ten Nausicaans heading towards the room with a Romulan leading them.
Douglas hissed a curse in his native Marai as he made sure those were the only enemies in range. He stage-whispered, "We have ten Nausicans and a Rihannsu" a moment's hesitation, and he corrected to the word most Starfleet knew for them "Romulan coming this way. Whatever we do, we need to do it now."
"Lets get this show on the road, all out assault and we seize this this ship", Mattis said as he he stood and took aim with his Phaser Rifle, His Marines doing the same.
Douglas wanted to bang his head on something until either he fell unconscious or he no longer had the desire to knock the marine unconscious. All-out frontal assault might get them past this group, but there was no way of knowing how many were onboard the ship. His tricorder could only scan so far. And while they were assaulting this group, would another group pincer them? No, straight up the middle, as it were, was not always the best solution.
But neither could he order the marine to follow his plan; so his mind came up with an alternative. "All right, you follow that plan to the bridge," If you can get there, "and we'll be more subtle, giving the advantage that they don't know we're here. This way, if they do stop you, they won't know that we're undermining them from Engineering. And if they don't stop you, we have both areas."
That being said, he motioned his people into the Tubes. They knew what to do; once inside, scatter and take different routes to Engineering in pairs. This way, even if one pair or two were discovered, the whole plan didn't go straight to the Abyss. Last in, he closed the hatch behind him and headed out with one of his team.
The squad of Nausicaans led by the Romulan approached the cargo bay where the away team had materialized. The Romulan lifted a scanner and then nodded to the Nausicaans who all lifted their weapons. The Romulan stepped aside and drew his own disruptor and a moment later, the walls of the cargo bay began to slowly vaporize under the concentrated fire power instead of attempting to breach the door.
The Marines watched helplessly as the wall separating them from the corridor came down and opened fire with the weapons. A battle ensued and four Marines went down in the crossfire, but the entire squad of Nausicaans and the Romulan learned the hard way that for every loss a Marine suffered, they would suffer four times as much. When the smoke and dust cleared, only the Marines were left standing.
They had not gone very far through the Jeffries Tubes when Douglas stopped. His partner stopped behind him. "What's wrong, sir?" she asked in a whisper.
He sighed as he turned in the tube and slithered past her to head in a different direction."I am not going to risk my people on a useless plan. The ship is disabled; there is no point to taking Engineering. The reason we're here is to retrieve Raimus; and he's on the Bridge." So we're going to the Bridge." he answered in whispers.
Once they were far enough away from the assault team that were closing on the marines -- a frontal assault? Really? -- he tapped his comm. badge. =/\= Team, Code B1. =/\= And he closed the comm. The code was one he had given to them prior to the away mission. It basically told them to go to the Bridge now. He and his partner were heading there themselves at this point.
As they reached the Bridge, his team each gave quick taps to their comm. badges to alert him that they had reached their breach points, the various entrances and exits on the Bridge. They were now only awaiting his signal to move. He held for a moment, looking through the Tube grate to count the number of defenders left here before ordering anything.
A skeleton crew of four beings were on the bridge with one tall humanoid yelling at everyone and giving orders to find and eliminate the intruders. All of them were heavily armed and an argument seemed to be in progress about sealing all the bulkheads versus the ship's crew being able to get to the intruders. The humanoid giving the orders pulled a disruptor and shot the one arguing for the bulkheads being sealed and turned to the others. "I don't care how you find and kill them, but do it!"
Douglas smirked to himself; without realizing it, Raimus had just put the odds in the Starfleet officers' favor. He signaled his people with three quick taps to his comm. badge; that was the 'go now' command. Simultaneously, his people came out of Jeffries Tube accesses and turbolifts, surrounding the four beings, phasers aimed.
The humanoid male who had just shot one of the other men on the bridge immediate swung his disruptor and fired at a few of the Starfleet personnel that were coming out of the access hatches and dove behind the chair in the center of the bridge. "Good help is so hard to find!" he yelled over the sound of disruptor fire.
One of the other four grabbed for one of the Starfleeters and managed to twist his phaser arm off center and punched him in the gut. "Get them!" he bellowed.
The armored uniforms absorbed the blasts, but Douglas was not pleased with the situation. One of his men had been disarmed, but was fighting back valiantly. The rest of the team fired their phasers at the remaining henchmen attempting to take them down. Douglas himself went after Raimus.
It was a short fight with the others, but the bridge crew of the ship went down under the assault of the Starfleet officers and quickly found themselves stunned and restrained.
Leaping the rail behind the center chairs, he fired at the space between the rail and the chairs, hoping to catch the man even partially with the beam given that the space was so crowded.
Raimus turned when the big man jumped over the rail and rolled to side quickly. He brought his disruptor up and fired at the center mass of the Starfleet officer and was momentarily stunned when he saw his disruptor blast get absorbed by whatever the man was wearing.
Douglas saw the momentary stunned expression and took advantage of the moment. This man was on the Top Ten Most Wanted, and he was likely not going to give Douglas another chance this good to put him down. He had already proved to be slippery, and Douglas was charged with bringing him back to the Triumphant. This was not going to be the mission he failed; he fired again.
That was more than enough to take Raimus down and he hit the deck of the bridge, out cold.
Douglas holstered his phaser and picked up the limp form of Raimus, tossing him over his shoulder. Tapping his comm. badge with his free hand, he sent, "We have Raimus." No more was needed; that was enough to tell the crew to bring his team and the marines, if they survived, back.
=^=Alpha team has four down and all clear=^= Came the response from a Marine. =^=We're beaming back to the ship=^=
Douglas acknowledged and called the Triumphant to beam them back. A moment later, the Transporter engaged, and the Security and Marine teams vanished from the decks of the disabled ship.
