Mission: An Orion to Die For
Location: Star Fighter Hangar
Timeline: MD 3 || 1600 Hours

Finally out of her flight suit, Marisa had managed to have a shower and put on a fresh uniform. She gained a couple of looks from the deck crew milling about as she opened up the CAG's office to dump her gear, and by the time she'd straightened up her uniform a small crowd had gathered near the door. She didn't pay them any mind for the moment. It would take an hour or so for Larry to get the gang together, and she'd deal with their questions then.

No, her priority right now was to introduce herself to the rest of the command staff. Assuming command over a rudderless group without a word, she could deal with, but she didn't think she could cope with an off the cuff introduction to the Executive Officer in the middle of a staff briefing. Marisa had already had a quick glance at the Commander's record and was ready to brave the fire.

=A=Commander Madelina Weisz, this is Lieutenant Marisa Cheshire. The Captain just assigned me to the position of CAG. I was hoping that we could have a meet and greet at your earliest convenience, sir.=A= Marisa said with a confident cadence.

Commander Weisz was neck deep in reports between meetings as well as clearing parts of her schedule for the following day to allow time for surprise inspections of each department when the call from their new CAG came through. This was an interesting turn of events. =^=Report to my office, Lieutenant. I have a few moments now. Weisz out.=^= she said, just before ending the link with their new CAG.

The redhead had yet to be informed by this latest development, and that fact annoyed her just a bit, so this was going to be a bit interesting. Then again, it likely didn't help that a large part of her day was spent outside of the office, but it was of little consequence. Now, she planned to wait to see who exactly was going to be walking through her door.

Once again, Marisa had to use the guidance function to navigate her way to her destination. As she followed the golden line through the immense ship she wondered if she ever would be able to memorise a path to the various locations. It made her feel uncomfortable to need to rely on the computer for such a thing as basic navigation.

With the turbolift doing most of the traveling for Marisa, it wasn't long before the golden line lead her to the door labeled 'Executive Officer's Office'. She pressed the 'buzzer' key on the pad next to the door and awaited a response.

"Come in," Maddy called, taking a sip of her tea. She could have used a cup of coffee, but it seemed wrong to drink it in the afternoon, so this was going to have to suffice. She set her tea cup down, a replicated replica of an heirloom set passed down to many generations, and fixed her eyes on the door. Thankfully, the set was locked away safely inside her quarters where it would never be broken.

Marisa took a few strides into the room before bringing her heals together and an hand up to her forehead with the same effortlessness that she did a few hours ago for the ships captain.

"Lieutenant Marisa Cheshire reporting, sir." The blonde said, speaking with a self-assured cadence whilst looking at the Commander with a confident gaze.

"Commander Madelina Weisz, Executive Officer," she said, gesturing for Marisa to sit. "Can I get you anything before we get started?"

Marisa relaxed her stance and made her way towards the offered seat. "If the tea is on offer then I wouldn't mind a cup." She said, gesturing towards the teacup as she took her seat. "Otherwise no, I managed to squeeze in a quick meal and a drink before coming up."

Maddy moved over to the replicator to get a second cup of tea, then once it appeared, she picked it up and carried it over to Marisa. On her desk sat various items such as cream, sugar, honey and anything else one might like in their tea. Afterward, she settled back down. "I have to admit, finding out about you and your new position on the ship has come as a bit of a shock," she said. "I had no idea before you contacted me. Then... I haven't spent a lot of time in my office."

"You're not alone." Marisa said with a slight chuckle as she reached forward for the honey, collecting a small dollop on a teaspoon. "The skipper kinda surprised me with the offer. I was just expecting to have my squadron support you during the mission." She said, looking up for her position as she dipped the teaspoon in the cup.

"Well... it is his right as a Captain to make changes without notifying the person who oversees scheduling," the redhead said without the slightest hint of annoyance in her voice. However... she was seething on the inside, and that monster she called Rage was rattling its cage begging to be let out. Nonetheless, she kept it at bay and focused on the woman in front of her. "As I'm sure you can understand, I've not had the opportunity to go over your personnel record yet, so I want you to tell me a bit about yourself."

Marisa lent back into the seat, teacup in hand. She looked away from the commander for a moment with a nostalgic glint in her eye as she took a sip. "Well," she started, after lowering it, refocusing her attention on Madelina. "Following the graduation I was assigned as a FAIP, an instructor pilot at the academy."She quickly clarified "Following that I was the Air Demonstration squadron out of Nellis and my last post was boarder patrol along the Klingon neutral zone. I like to think I'm a good pilot, a decent leader and I believe in Star Fleet's mission. But-" Marisa shrugged slightly with a soft smile "More than that I don't want to say, aside from that I prefer to let my actions and performance speak for itself."

"And how old are you Miss Cheshire?" The XO asked.

There was a little bit of a hesitation following the question as Marisa was edged a little out of her comfort zone "Uh, thirty one sir."

Maddy cocked her head to the side. "Why the hesitation, Lieutenant? It was a simple question which should garner a simple answer. Unless... you're not actually thirty-one and have something to hide."

"No sir." Marisa said as she began to eye the commander warily. "I just..." She looked down at her teacup for a moment and then back to the commander with her regained composure, though there was something more guarded about her smile now. "My career hasn't been what I had envisioned upon leaving the academy. I was an Ensign for 6 years sir, and up until 2 hours ago I thought I'd be heading home to be reassigned to a do nothing post until I quit the service. It's a sore point for me and this whole situation doesn't seem real yet."

The redhead nodded her head in understanding. "Sometimes we aren't where we want to be in our careers by a certain age, but it does drive us to work harder. I'm twenty-nine years old, and I know I've gotten farther in my career than some people twice my age. I've spent years busting my ass to get where I am, though, and you will, too."

Marisa shook her head "Sir, please don't miss understand, my issue isn't with hard work, at least I don't believe so." She said as she lent forward to place her cup back down. "It's simply that there is a level of politicking that I don't commit to as a matter of principle. Some people get lucky and don't get forced in to positions in which their morality is tested, others are forced to jeopardise their careers; speak out or stay silent." She narrowed her eyes at the Commander and gave her an appraising look. "Then there are those that will do anything to get ahead and test the latter two."

"If you don't mind my asking... which one of those are you?" Maddy asked. She still hadn't gotten a feel for the woman settled across from her, and hoped that would change by the end of their conversation. Time would definitely tell, though.

"The second one sir." Marisa said confidently, after a moment "Like I said, I believe in Star Fleet's mission. Those that are only out for themselves threaten that mission."

"I would have to agree with you, and those that threaten the mission don't need to be on this ship," Maddy stated. "What else can you tell me? Perhaps... something I won't find in your personnel file."

Marisa placed a thoughtful finger across her lips and cupped her chin, pausing for a moment "I'm a frontier kid." She said finally, lowering her hand. "From a small little hub on what became known as the Ferengi boarder. My father made me learn the chello after I got into some trouble when I was young and I wasn't a big fan of it, and I'm a decent cook but probably favor seafood a bit too much."

"You should check out The Black Hole," Maddy stated, pausing to take a sip of her tea. "They have the best food there, and even better coffee. The real deal, too. That being said, do you have any questions for me? Or have any concerns you'd like to address?"

"No sir." Marisa said with a subtle shake of her head and a slight smile "Any question I might have articulated walking in, you've answered in one way or another. It was a pleasure to meet you."

"Should you think of anything, don't hesitate to contact me," the Commander said, rising to her feet and extending her hand in Marisa's direction. "Welcome aboard. You're dismissed."

Marisa matched the commanders motions and took her hand. "Thank you sir. Glad to be here." After dropping it she gave a quick salute before pirouetting and making motions towards the door.
