Sharing The Good News

The good news Lucia had received earlier that day about her plans to have a baby with Martha had put her in such a positive mood. Arriving back in their quarters after her shift and a quick detour via promenade to have a look around Lucia was pleased to find her wife was already back from her shift and sat in the living area of their quarters.

"Hey beautiful" Lucia said.

Martha smiled and stood up. She walked up to Lucia and embraced her before giving her a sweet kiss.

"Hey" Martha replied.

Lucia returned the kiss and continued their embrace for a few seconds before Martha told Lucia to sit down whilst she got them a cup of tea each. Her wife's appointment and its outcome had played on Martha's mind all afternoon - particularly as she had asked Lucia to tell her how it went after her meeting. She then thought that perhaps Lucia wanted to share the outcome in person rather than over a communication.

"So...how did it go?" Martha asked.

Lucia waited until Martha had returned to the sofa with their cups of tea. She watched as Martha placed them down on the table and slid one in her direction.

"Well...I was seen by this extremely lovely doctor who despite being such a tease was very helpful" Lucia responded.

Martha nodded. "OK...I hope he didn't tease you too much though"

"Of course he didn't beautiful - but yeah...he carried out a scan and a check for me just to make sure everythng's...working. It didn't take too long for him to give me an answer but it was the answer that we wanted. We can have a baby together" Lucia said excitedly.

Martha didn't know what to say - the news was what she was hoping for but she just couldn't find the words. She reached forward and embraced Lucia tightly again.

Lucia knew sometimes Martha found it hard to express her feelings - it was a quirk of her wife's that she loved because it usually resulted in getting a hug from her. Hugging Martha back tightly she rested her chin on Martha's shoulder and rubbed her back gently.

"It's amazing right? We're going to have our own baby...and Elsie is going to be a big sister" Lucia said.

Martha nodded. "Yeah...it's amazing mia bellissima regina. I never thought this would happen after my bad news but...your good news has made that just fade away. I love you so much"

"Aww. I love you too Martha. In fact...we may be able to get started sooner than you think. There is a stock of sperm samples available for us to use but...I may have found us a donor who we can put more than a picture and a name console to" Lucia responded.

Martha was feeling very emotional all of a sudden - something she had never really felt before. She had never been able to understand the various feelings she felt or why - but for once - Martha knew why she felt the way she did.

"What is he like? Is he nice?" Martha asked.

Lucia nodded. "He's really lovely - in fact it's the doctor who gave us the good news. He did offer but didn't think I would take it seriously...but honestly Martha...the guy has so many lovely qualities I would love to see in a baby of ours"

Processing what her wife had said Martha wanted to learn a bit more about him - such as his name and meeting him herself.

"What's his name?" Martha asked.

Lucia smiled. "William Fontaine - although he prefers Willie. Honestly Martha if I didn't think he'd be a good donor I wouldn't suggest it"

Martha nodded and walked over to the computer.

"Computer - access personnel file. Fontaine, William" Martha instructed.

"Working"

William's profile appeared on Martha's console a moment later. Taking a few moments to look it over she gave an approving nod and turned her console off again. She walked back over to the sofa and sat down before she took a sip of her tea.

"He seems like a nice person. Why don't you send him a message and ask him to come over so we can get to know him a bit better? I'll make a cake and brew some of my special tea" Martha suggested.

Lucia nodded. "Sure. How about we go out for a meal tonight too - my treat. We haven't had a meal out since we were on holiday"

"That sounds lovely. I'll go and get ready" Martha replied.

Martha disappeared into their bedroom whilst Lucia loaded up the computer and instructed it to send a message to Willie about the meeting she proposed earlier.

"I've told my wife about the result of my appointment and she is happy to meet you so we can discuss what we talked about this morning. 20:00 is good for us if it's still good for you"

With the message sent Lucia sat back down to finish her cup of tea. Today had been an amazing day and with any luck it was about to get even better.
