Learning the Truth

Mission:
Falling Star
Location: Marine CO's Office
Timeline: MD 34 || 1000 Hours
Maddy found herself moving through Marine country with a PADD in her hand. She didn't look too happy, and people seemed to clear the way for her as she moved. That was something she'd grown used to over the years, and if she was honest with herself, it didn't even bother her a little bit. So what if people wanted to call her an Ice Queen? She knew the truth, and at the end of the day, only one person's opinion truly mattered to her.
She came to a halt at the Marine CO's door that lead to his office and took a calming breath. It didn't really help much other than help her clear her head a bit so she could focus. There were matters she needed to attend to, and there was no way she could put it off any longer. In fact, the second she had a free moment, the ship's XO grabbed what she needed to have with her and was on her way. Now, she extended a hand to press the chime off to the side of the door, waiting for the Caitian to give her access to his office.
S'er'in'e though mildly frustrated stood up from his chair behind his desk, deactivated the holographics and put his hands behind his back. "Enter."
Who ever it was would be treading on a fine layer of ice when it came to dealing with him after his somewhat frustrating entanglement with the ships CAG officer.
Maddy made her way into S'er'in'e's office and offered him a respectful nod. The Caitian had never given her a reason to dislike him, and it was because of that that being polite was necessary. "Colonel," she said in way of greeting him. "I was hoping you had a few moments so that you and I might have a little talk about something that came across my desk earlier in the day. Sadly, I would have dealt with this sooner, but it's been an incredibly long day, and I didn't have the time until just recently."
"Captain Weisz." S'er'in'e as with all females bowed slightly. "Of course, what may I do for you?" His hand to the window, an offer to join him. He walked to the window that overlooked the main area of the department, chairs and lockers in rows, sparring mats and the sort. Patiently and silently he waited to see what brought the ships First Officer to his realm.
"I'm here to investigate a report that came across my desk," the XO replied. "And I've already pulled the security footage to compare notes with once I have had the opportunity to speak with both parties involved."
"Regarding?" Wondering what this was about. Did one of his play conduct themselves not to the standards he'd expect of his men? Was there some error in his command of the mission on the Victorious? He looked mildly puzzled as he gazed at the shorter woman beside him.
Maddy shook her head as she brought the PADD forward and accessed his report. "I'm talking about this," she said, pointing to the area that mentions an incident with the CAG. It didn't go into much detail, which was her very reason for being here with him now. "I'd like to get a bit more information from you regarding this, then I will review the footage that was pulled and speak with Lieutenant Cheshire myself."
S'er'in'e's mood instantly soured as he recalled the recent 'encounter' we the CAG. Whiskers flared again, lip slightly raised exposing the tips of his dominant larger fangs. "An insufferable, rude, insensitive, opinionated, disrespectful individual." He remarked as he walked back to his desk. "My kind has worked hard to overcome the perceptions of other races for generations since we entered the stars, I can not hide what I am or avoid the expected taunts from others, but I fail to see why I need suffer them here."
He realised then that he'd not actually answered her query. "During the mission where I Mastered the Victorious vessel, Lt Cheshire occupied her craft escorting me. In her infinite wisdom, she self appointed me the call sign...." S'er'in'e growled, made no attempt to hide it nor the utter contempt on his face. "Scratchpost."
Maddy arched a brow, giving a tug at her ear as if she didn't hear him correctly. "Excuse me?"
S'er'in'e looked at the woman questioning if she were being sarcastic or genuinely didn't hear him. The irritation evident enough on his face. "Scratchpost." He repeated. "That is what she deemed to label me."
"That's what I thought you said, but needed to be absolutely sure," she said, lowering her hand back to her side. "You are not a pilot, and therefore, do not require the need for a call sign... much less one that is clearly racially insensitive. Such atrocities died out centuries ago, and it most definitely is not okay for Lieutenant Cheshire to bring them back again. I assure you that this matter will be dealt with, and that there will be no future incidents like this again. I do apologize to you, Colonel, as the Triumphant does not condone such behavior from any of its crew... Starfleet or otherwise."
"May I ask what will happen now?" Busy as he was, a long and drawn out issue was hardly suited to his current duty demands.
"You may, but I'm afraid I don't have an answer to that," the redhead answered truthfully. She supposed that all depended on what Lieutenant Cheshire had to say to her once she'd reviewed the footage she had pulled. "It depends on how things go once I've had the chance to speak with Lieutenant Cheshire. What would you like to see happen? I'm willing to give it consideration."
"Given the gravity of the situation, something I feel to match the severity of such." S'er'in'e replied still bothered by the ordeal and more so now having dredged it up with the Captain.
"Colonel, again, you have my sincerest apologies for this. I will let you know what happens once I've spoken to the other party involved. Okay?" the redhead woman asked.
"Understood." S'er'in'e's mood visibly changed when he saw that the Captain was going to put a cap on what happened and potentially it happening again.
"I'll leave you to your work, Colonel," she said, turning toward the door. Maddy paused for a moment and looked to him again. "If anything like this happens again, be sure to bring it to my attention." On that note, she moved back through the door to handle a few affairs that required her attention.
"As you wish." S'er'in'e replied as she turned to leave, a bow as per customary and then watched as the doors closed behind her.
