Mission: Falling Star
Location: Officers Quarters
Timeline: MD 34 II 0945

Venus slowly opened her eyes to the lights illuminated at a quarter of their brightness. Her hand slid across the bed to...Emptiness.

She turned to see the pillow, still molded to another's head, but lacking any other evidence that someone was actually there.

A transfer or reassignment and Lieutenant Cheshire - Marisa - was gone. No goodbyes, no last kiss, nothing as if but a dream that had since vanished. Like Dalton and Ekkhae...No closure.

She sat up, having gotten very little sleep, she was still exhausted. Repairs and fraternization had monopolized her night and the engineer wa fully aware that at least repairs were still waiting for her this morning. The only true lover she could ever depend on...Her engines never abandoned her, just tormented the hell out of her every waking moment.

Abandonment was a bit harsh, she had to admit since her fling with the pilot amounted to a mere one night stand, never to be repeated. She, however, had allowed her guard down, allowed herself to feel, be vulnerable. She had made her career, one day command a starship of her own, as her life mission that having emotional yearnings wasn't suppose to happen.

"Own the space." She whispered as if that was suppose to make things alright with the world. Have a shower, and simply forget her momentary weakness of the flesh...She was a disciplined officer. Started quoting regulations out loud as if convincing herself of her dedication to her duty.

It was this time that she noticed the time. 0945 hours...Late for her shift but there was something else...Something important...

"Oh bonkers!" She threw the sheets to the floor as she scrambled to her feet. The staff meeting, she had plum forgot and only had fifteen minutes to get there. No time for a normal morning routine. She was brushing her teeth when she tapped into the replicator for a uniform tunic only to see it in command red.

"No, no no!" She had been in to much of a rush and punched in the wrong branch. When a gold one materialized, she pulled it over her head, feeling the static discharge but she didn't care, grabbing her jacket and struggling, in a panic, to get it on.

She bolted out of her quarters, nearly running into a science officer with a single pip on his collar. His youthful eyes looked down then his cheeks got rosy as he quickly raised those eyes to hers. "Sorry Ma'am...I don't want to offend, as it might be your world's custom but you are not wearing...ahhh..pants"

Venus' slowly lowered her eyes to see bare feet, bare legs and a pair of dainty bright pink underwear. "Balls!" She screamed followed by a string of Romulans profanity the universal translator could not, luckily translate so the poor ensign was left awkward. Everytime his eyes drifted down, he got a glare that could have ignited him into flames.

"Listen, you ever mention this to anyone and I will have you on KP duty for a month. Do I make myself clear?" The Chief Engineer snapped, trying hard to be deadly serious without pants.

"Yes Ma'am..." The Ensign stammered.

"Now go about your business, get to the damn labs now!" She ordered quite harshly.

"Ma'am, I work in Stellarcartography.." He tried to explain pointing hesitantly toward the turbolift down the corridor.

"Are you trying to be a smartass, Ensign?" Venus barked, arms folded, seething from this embarrassing encounter.

"No Ma'am...I will go to my duty station.." He responded, scared what the Lieutenant might say.

"Then you are dismissed." She swiveled around, marching to the third door on the right, as she pulled down on her tunic which did very little to hide her pink covered behind.

On entering her quarters, she snatched a pair of trousers that had been discarded on a chair and yanked them on, grabbing her boots and running to the turbolift where she encountered that same awkward ensign. The ride was in dead silence as she slipped her boots on.

In all the chaos, she forgot to pin up her hair, which was left bouncing along as she went.

The Ensign for his part, looked straight ahead feeling like this lift ride was the longest ever.
