Checking In

Mission:
Falling Star
Location: XO's Office
Timeline: MD32 || 0900 Hours
After her arrival to the USS Triumphant when they were docked at Deep Space 10 she had already made her quarters feel like home and then headed to the bridge to check in with the Executive Officer which according to her padd was Captain Weisz.
Once she arrived she quickly found the Captain's office and pressed the chime and waited for a response. She was a bit nervous since this was a huge change for her from the Melbourne.
"Come in," Maddy called out, putting the reports she was reviewing aside. There was always work to do, and after a while, things got pretty tedious when it was the same thing over and over, so when visitors showed up, it gave her a break to focus on something else before the words began to blend together. Something she was grateful for.
Cheyanne walked in and looked at the women in front of her, "Lieutenant Cheyanne Harrison reporting in." She said trying not to sound nervous, "I am going to be the ship's Cheif Engineering Officer." Cheyanne added looking at her.
"Welcome aboard, Lieutenant," Maddy said, gesturing to one of the two chairs on the opposite side of her desk. "Can I get you anything before we get started? Coffee? Tea? Water?" She moved toward the replicator to get herself a cup of tea, then waited for a few moments to see if their newly placed Chief of Engineering would request something as well.
"No thank you, Captain," Cheyanne said as she took a seat in one of the chairs.
The XO nodded and made her way back toward her desk to take a seat. "Why don't you tell me a little bit about yourself?" Maddy requested. "I'd prefer it to be something that I can't read about you in your file if at all possible."
She looked at her and thought for a moment, "I am not sure what I can really tell you that isn't in my file sir, I am not that much of a social person so other than work I have a pretty dull life." She admitted looking at her almost nervous.
Maddy could tell the redhead sitting across from her was nervous. It was something she'd learned to pick up on during her time as a Security Officer. Well, that and some other things. "You don't need to be nervous, Lieutenant. You haven't done anything wrong, and it's because of that that I'm not going to bite you," she said in a tone meant to reassure Cheyanne. "I've got a feeling while you're on board the ship, you'll find yourself coming out of your shell as time progresses."
She nodded, "Sorry just not used to change very much spent most my time on the Melbourne so this is something new." Cheyanne said as she looked at her.
"It's going to take a little bit of time to get used to, but you will," the redhead Captain said, offering the other redhead a smile. "Have you already looked into getting your quarters squared away or been to your department yet?"
"I have already squared away my quarters but, I haven't made it to Engineering yet." Cheyanne said, "I figured I check in first before heading there sir." She replied as she returned her smile, she felt a little more at ease as she felt that the Captain would be alright.
Maddy offered her a smile and nodded. "That makes sense. Most people I encounter like to wait until after they've met their CO and XO," she said. "Have you ever served on something this size before?" Of course, she hadn't had the chance to go over Cheyanne's record yet, so that's why she was asking the question.
"Yes, the USS Melbourne is a Sovereign-class which was my only other assignment I have had." Cheyanne said, "Though it isn't as advanced as this ship but it was pretty good to keep me busy." Cheyanne added with a smile.
"Well, I think you'll fit in rather well while you're here," the taller redhead said, taking a sip of her tea before she returned the cup to her desk. "Do you have any questions for me? Concerns, perhaps?"
"No sir," She said looking at her. "Not at the moment anyways," Cheyanne said with a smile.
"If you think of any questions, or have any concerns in the future, don't hesitate to contact me," Maddy said. "If there's nothing else, I'll let you get to your department and get settled in. Welcome aboard, Lieutenant." She offered the new Engineering Chief a smile as she departed, then got back to work.
